I'm even more skinny than you and I'm an adult male. I eat three meals a day, plus snacks, I eat lots of fatty foods. I just can't put weight on even if I try. But I'm really not that bothered anyway.

I cannot be thin as the scales don't say I am thin. In fact, I am heavier than I expected, tho admittedly, I wore heavier clothes and it is coming up for that time of the month. I know I am tall at 5'10, but how is it my bones show etc, but the scales say I am 137 pounds? I was like only 134 just before xmas. It is driving me mad. I don't even eat huge amounts. I curse having this damn underactive thyroid. It is that which prevents me from losing weight like any other person. :( I clearly was seeing the truth when I saw a larger me in the mirror and the thinner me was just an illusion. I am a lump. Women are not meant to weigh this much...this is a man's weight.

Perhaps you can take medication for your low thyroid? My sister and my mother have the same problem. It can also cause irritability and sadness too. :(
137lbs on a 5 foot 10 frame seems quite underweight to me; your BMI (body mass index) is 19.7, and technically having a BMI of under 18.5 is underweight, and you are almost there. :(
You are beautiful, and your body is also beautiful, though it is very thin. I want you to be healthy.
:(

I am on medication, but they do not totally alter things. My metabolism will never be at full speed without exercise which I was doing every day until I came back after a visit to my mothers about 3 weeks ago. I don't suppose stopping all exercise is helping me much, just struggling to get motivated into it again.

137, according to my ticket from the scale is BMI 20.6, but the ticket lists anything under BMI of 20 as underweight. I don't wanna be heavy. I don't care if I am tall, a female is meant to be light enough to pick up etc etc.

I wouldn't worry about me health, I do not get too thin to menstruate until I hit 120ibs. But I do really want to get down to 130 or less.

137 is not a normal man's weight unless he is like 5'6. I have a friend who is 138 and about that height, He is quite thin for a guy. 160 would be a more normal weight for a guy 5'10.

I looked at what I am supposed to weigh on those charts. 160-180. I was told to never try and reach that. My doctor said for my build I should add atleast 20 lbs on to that chart.

Those charts are made by people looking at average bone structure and average proportions. If you don't meet average, then you shouldn't necessarily be on the chart.

Also, a BMI over 25 is considere overweigt. So a "healthy" BMI should fall within the range of 18.5-25. You're already on the low end.

The only caveat with BMI is that if you are a professional athlete or do a lot of strenuous muscle-building activity for a hobby, the BMI can get inaccurate. BMI is a ratio of weight to height. The more accurate test is a body composition analysis. They run a weak electric current through your body to see the resistance on the current and caluculate percentage of fat based on that. My work offered one at a recent health fair, so I got it done - I think my gym offers it as well. The point is, I got it done.

Since I am not atheletic, my body composition is more or less in line with my BMI. You don't look terribly muscular, so BMI would be an accurate tool for you as well. If you do get into weight lifting in the future, you may want to consider body composition analysis in the future.

Either way, you shouldn't strive for an 18.5 BMI. As long as you're under 25, you're not overweight.

People come in all shapes and sizes. You're thin and I'm stocky. I think that you should love your body, the way that it is. We are all built differently, and that's what makes the world go round. :)

I am shorter than you, considered a skinny guy (I can wear 30 inch waist trousers, but go for 32 because I prefer my clothes loose), and I weigh more than you, at 152 pounds last time I checked.

That certainly matters if you want to be a ballet dancer, or do other things where a guy definitely has to lift you (rock'n roll dancing?). For those purposes, just pick a guy who is up to the job. For most purposes the looks matter more than the actual weight. You have already achieved your aim (if I understood you) of looking more delicate than average. If you lost 14 pounds, you would look worrying.

Besides, there is so much going into weight that the number is not so meaningful on its own. For example, do you know whether you have rather robust bones? I knew a guy who could not float in water even with his lungs full. He attributed this to having heavy bones, seeing that his body fat was normal. With women more likely to suffer from osteoporosis later in life, having a bit of reserve bone mass would be a good thing. Muscles also have a high density.

You’re “thin” but not “sickly” (man, I feel dirty for saying that; I hate commenting on the physical appearance of other humans – judgemental behaviour is something I abhor when I do it...I don’t care if you do it though).

I’ve been quite lithe before, not unlike you: in retrospect, I felt so weak physically…. I’d prefer to be bigger than what I was for the few simple reasons of my body being better at absorbing physical blows/falls and the increase in strength that weight adds (you really have no idea until you practice martial arts).

You aren't too thin but you are no where near fat. A lot of women (myself included) would love to be your size.

You aren't being fair to yourself though. A person needs bones and organs and all that good stuff to function and those things have weight. As you already know, the taller you are the taller your bones are. A weight of 137 is nothing to be ashamed of and certainly not a man's weight. You weight less than most women who are average height. I could pick you up - and I am not even strong.

I'm just 4 inches taller and fairly slender and I bounce around 180.

I'm a healthy guy and one of my better friends weighs in the 140 range and she could put ten more pounds on and i could still lift her pretty easily.

Light enough to pickup. Depends on who is doing the lifting.

180 would be a little difficult to pick up (for me) but not 137.

Tyra Banks recently disclosed that she weighs 161 pounds. Here's a picture of her:
