Have you ever noticed how the most popular members of a forum always have a huge number of posts, even compared to other people who have been around just as long as they have? If you want to make friends on a forum then your best bet is to post on multiple topics and in multiple sub-forums. At least I think so...I've never personally tried it.

Well, I created a name game in Random Discussions. It's all very simple: Be the first person to guess my true first name and you win. Afterwards, anyone can volunteer to have people guess their true name. The catch is that it's first name only and that it's only one person at a time with one name at a time.

Depends on the type of popularity you want.
The games section (and sadly the random discussion)
are pretty much filled with spammy posts and
play. If you start posting in there, you will become
a part of the game, and be mentioned more and
more.

If you just spam indiscriminately, as I do,
you tend to just annoy people. :P

Whoops! Didn't think about that. Don't worry, though. Someone already guessed my real name and now it's Kilroy's turn. If I could edit the title of the forum, I would. I mean, I don't really want to annoy people. Maybe I'm just trying to get a little more noticed without offending people, annoying people, or create ideas that these people don't like.

I kind of have the opposite problem. Everyone here seems welcoming enough, but I just don't really connect or relate to anyone here, so I just come here for information and help, and to trade viewpoints. Nothing personal anyone, theres very few people in the world I actually like.

It's a combination of quality and quantity. Don't just post for posting's sake.

I never want to “stand” out; it’s ucky ‘cause people expect you to be what they envision you to be by what they read and/or see, and if you deviate from this they respond with a great deal of emotion to things that are of no concern to them, usually hurting due to some unseen slight by you on them, then you're left feeling a certain amount of responsibility in future interactions with people encase you hurt them unknowingly.

I was like this..., now I don't care because I'm beyond caring about anything.

Well, I DO care! I want to feel like I'm a part of this website, so I always hope for things such as uplifting comments and PMs from other people. I want to be a friend, but it isn't that easy for me. I'm lonely! What I really want is company. When I mean 'company', I mean people sending me PMs or making sure that I am a part of this website. Now I know that we only get certain people each set of hours, but would ANYONE please let me know that I am a valued member of this website? I know I said otherwise before, but now that feeling of loneliness and isolation just came back. :(
