Maybe it's time to call it quits.

Yeah, it kind of sucks, but it's basically the only way I can really handle it.

Hi Ezra. I have always enjoyed your posts and see nothing wrong with them.

Maybe you have just outgrown this place? "Diminishing returns." It happens.

I recently decided to end my involvement with an online game after 4 or 5 years playing it. It just had grown tiresome. To make my decision final, I destroyed my city so I COULDN'T go back to it. Now I'm addicted to another online game, and hopefully the next step will be giving up online games entirely.

By the way, I think never leaving your room is NOT a good strategy. None of my business, of course, but I see that going badly down the road. Our journey through life is about trying, failing, succeeding, learning, and growing. A person has to get outside of their comfort zone now and then. But it's your life, and your decision when to do that and how much.

Best of luck to you, whatever you decide.

When you talked about threads getting locked I figured you were talking about mods. I was just sharing my own experiences with them seeing as how this thread was supposed to be about my personal struggle.

Oh, how awfully selfish of me for the distraction. You obviously have an issue with me, self-righteous bastard. Now get off your high horse.

smudge,

You're not helping anyone or anything by antagonizing people. EzraS started this thread because he was looking for moral support. If you want to talk about the problems with this site, then by all means start a separate thread about it.

Please don't fight...

This is in the Haven - it's supposed to be safe here. Ezra should be safe here.

Please, leave the hostilities for other threads and other times.

Just because it's online doesn't mean we can do social any better.
Someone wanting to know why I haven't died yet was the last straw for me.

For the record, I've mostly found your posts clever and highly relatable.

WTH?! Was that someone from this site that asked you that question?

Ezra, take a break.I've done it - especially around and after the election. I also stay away from the political threads for awhile and only come back a little at a time. Also, don't answer any PMs unless you're expecting them.

Wth happened to Jacoby? Did he get banned? I sent a PM months ago and it was never read.

Perhaps that person isn't your buddy. It seems to me you've been one of the most articulate and independent posters here.

^^ This. You are amazingly articulate and it’s extra amazing given your age.

Actually, I remain unconvinced that Ezra is the age he claims to be. I still think he may be a PhD student at Stanford, or something like that. :D

Ezra, do you realize what you have accomplished?

You have brought people together from across the political spectrum, here, and you have united us solidly in our concern and respect for you.

I will not make one peep of criticism, even in jest, towards anyone at this moment. Our disagreements, whatever they may be, do not matter one bit here and now. We're all on Team Ezra and we all want you to stay. That, in itself, shows just how extraordinary you are.

Take a break if you think it will help - NurseAngela made a wise suggestion. But if you do, remember this, look who cares, look how different we all are, ask yourself who else has ever brought us all together in this way :-) .

You're a good'un, EzraS.

Oh look, another self-righteous a***hole. I’ve seen you attack other people, don’t act so innocent. You’ve been horrible to other people on here.

I am stronly considering completely ending all of my online existence. It really hasn't gone well for me. I've made enemies. I have een permabanned from forums. My warning level here is a 3. I'm obviously no good at this and just set myself up for grief.

Maybe I'll end all I am online and try starting over. I don't know. But I feel like I have reached a breaking point.

If I just completely withdraw and have no contact with the outside world at all in any form I'll probably be happier and I will not have these bad experiences.

Nah. At most maybe you need a break.

At least you're aware of undesirable effects that you don't want to continue & thus can make a conscious choice to do something about improving. That could be a complete withdrawal from everything online, however, that's some pretty serious "all or nothing," thinking and IMO very drastic and unnecessary.

Personally, I like your presence here when I'm here. I like your tone, your posts, your general personality & opinions - even when you're kinda trying to get under my skin a little w/ something. You're extremely well written for someone your age, very reasonable/logical, intelligent and so on. Further, whether you think this should be a factor or not, I'm constantly amazed by your contributions here despite your physical & neurological struggles in the outside world. You're a source of inspiration, really.

I'd rather see you just make an effort to make fewer waves for yourself than quit this forum & others entirely.

FWIW when I was younger I was banned from several forums, some of them many times over lol. I think I had 17 different usernames on the biggest forum I used to post on for several years. Making mistakes in text on forums is the ASD text equivalent to making social mistakes in the real world. It happens. More so some times than others. But that doesn't mean one should isolate themselves and give up on all social interactions entirely. It just means you have made mistakes to learn and move forward from, that's it that's all.

Politics are hard to discuss here and pretty much anyone who gets heated in them and deeply involved all tend to get banned or leave the forum with hurt feelings. I say avoid that topic here and stick with other topics. Don't get involved in any political discussions.

It's not just WP, that's something I've learned on my high school forum. It's something general about internet discussions. Some topics tend to quickly drift into insults and these I avoid.
Actually, I know adult (50+, yeah, once in my thirties, this is what I mean as "adult" :D ), educated and respectable people who didn't learn it.
