I'm going to ring my doctor shortly.
I figure she should at least know we have Covid.
I'll see what she says about the cough.
It's wet and productive.
It's so loud it sounds like whooping cough.

4 It's Back to School day and I'm having unpleasant memories of when I was in school, especially around Remembrance Day.

A COVID cough, many times, is a non-productive cough, a "dry" cough.

Well I have Covid:

and I've had a wet, productive, barking, wheezing cough since it started (Thursday).

I tried my doctor but got the mean receptionist gatekeeper.
She said it's normal and just wait it out.
I rang my pharmacy because I need a different prescription delivered.
They said I sound awful and need to see a doctor.
They don't have strong enough cough suppressants / expectorants without a prescription.
I said the gatekeeper wouldn't let me through.
They told me to try again.

I had a productive cough when I had COVID, too, I must say.

But a feature of the "original" COVID was a dry, non-productive cough.

I don't mind waiting it out or having a cough.
I know people can remain ill for a long time with various symptoms.
My only concern is that my pulse is so high (120ish) and my pulse ox is low (92ish).
I also have a heart condition which can lead to blood clots when I cough / sneeze.

I was ill for about 3 weeks with the "original" COVID, then probably another week spent getting my strength back.

It ran a funny course. For about 1 week, I had a cold-like thing with a heavy-duty productive cough. Then, for two weeks, I had a flu-like illness with slight fever, slight weakness, pins-and-needles feelings, loss of appetite for three days. The cough became slight, but still productive. I also had sweats.

Sorry it was so rough.

It's just odd that five of us have it now, in my group.
No one else is coughing at all.
I sound like a sea lion with emphysema.

The gatekeeper said to ignore it.
The pharmacist said no, I need a doctor.

I didn't bother trying the doctor again.

Do you have cough medicine?

Maybe that might help.

The worst part of my COVID wasn't really the illness. It was pretty much a long-duration "regular flu" after the "cold" part.

The worst part was the anxiety that it might turn into pneumonia, and land me in the hospital. There's a couple people I know who got pneumonia from it, yet weren't hospitalized.

The person that sat across from me on my job---died from COVID. He had severe diabetes. He was the only person within my place of work who died.

I must say-----that it was probably worse in Canada, because families were separated from each other even though they didn't have COVID---because of the lack of availability of home tests.

I have Nyquil but it's not working.
The pharmacy said there's an OTC brand / ingredient I need, but they're sold out.
They said I could get that ingredient in prescription formulations.
They also said I likely need an inhaler.
I can't get any of that without talking to my doctor (understandably).

Normally the receptionist is very friendly.
There's one b**** one, and unfortunately that's the one who's gatekeeping today.

Maybe tomorrow the nice one will be there.

I've had pneumonia many times.
As a child I had to go to an outpatient respiratory clinic every week for many years.
I had to go on breathing machines to increase my lung capacity, because it's so bad.

I have Apnea and I'm supposed to be using a C-Pap, too.
That's another concern.

Ugh sorry to hear Isabella.

Intercontinental virtual hugs coming your way... Catch!

{{{{{{(((((Isabella)))))}}}}}}

yeah, I had never had pneumonia til after I go Mono, then ME. Now I can't count how many times, that or bronchitis.

I think we can get pretty hardcore expectorants here without prescription, ones with ammonia in them. You can really feel it working, or doing something.

Non-stop coughing sounds bad mixed with other things. Hope you get in tomorrow!

I got the over-the-counter one delivered because they found one in stock.
It's Extra Strength Benalyn (?) Expectorant with Menthol.
I can't do the ones with Codeine.

I had a teaspoon of Benalyn and I feel drunk.
My brain is fine but I'm walking into walls more than I usually do (20x / hour instead of 10x).
It's too early to see if it will help.

I'll hound the doctor's receptionist again tomorrow if need be.
I must be better for Thursday.
It's imperative.
