He's most likely just trolling for sympathy, like many people tend to do. If he threatens to kill himself, the people he wants to accept him will bow to the threat; it's a form of abusive behaviour in the guise of appearing like the victim.

You see it all the time with ex-partners who say the same thing unless their former partner doesn't take them back.

Just say no to this form of abuse.
