inclusion is necessary. there are all types on here and all types all welcome. we will not segregate individuals based on social skills (or diagnostic status, for that matter).

we do try to keep an eye out to help people who might feel upset or cornered. and we mediate a lot, often behind-the-scenes.

there was a big group of individuals several months ago, you may recall, that was quite well-lubricated socially. they have mostly now dispersed or interact more inclusively on the site, and the moderators at the time helped a lot with that.

there is no way to completely stop bullies, especially when we don't have an idea of the full history behind a situation. if you see something happening, even if it does not qualify as technically breaking any rules, speak to a moderator and we will discuss it with you and try to help as much as we can.

this thread goes from bad to worse, as the OP initiated a combative stance by expressing distaste for members' posts and threads, others pointed out how he had upset them in the past and noted that if he hates it here then why does he continue visiting, others vaguely insulted him, then further members got involved and started with personally insulting the poeple who opposed the OP's stance. it is messy and there is more than one side to the story. who needs protection here? they are in fact victimising each other, with no clear-cut bullying as it comes from both sides.

i have observed many of the members on this thread who are complaining about the state of affairs on WrongPlanet engage in what could be considered bullying behaviour. whether it was judging people harshly, insulting other members, or making others feel bad in some other way - i have seen it all. if it is a bad environment then i would expect that the people complaining will do their part at making it a better place instead of engaging in that same nastiness. we are ALL responsible at making this an inclusive, supportive, and welcoming environment.

EDIT: changed the statement in italics as it unfairly included *everyone* on the thread who complained about WP, and that was not fair.

I've never been a fan of one-size-fits-all policies, and treat it normally as a cost saving or conditioning device often applied to homogenize a diverse population.

And its promotion here on WP, has parallels with your average school system
As is the cold shoulder response, like that of a govt paid teacher
Dealing poorly with the bullied childs pain
What of these special needs voices crying in the dark
Medication time Nurse Ratchet?
Give me a double dose today

I really think WP could do better for its members. Please think about it

It's like when I have to go to the front office - I can't stand those yammering sales/marketing types. They're loud, rude, crude, and generally disrespectful of us engineers. I feel angry, frustrated, and insulted every time I have to deal with them. But I (usually) don't have to deal with them. I can just stay away, back in my office or the production area, doing what I enjoy, and not exposing myself to hose jerks unless it's absolutely necessary.
Where else am I supposed to go? How about instead of adopting a "love it or leave it" attitude, you actually try to understand why this forum is not helping and is in fact hurting some people? It says something when my fellow Aspies are treating me as badly or worse than NTs do.
Just how do you want this website and its members to accommodate you?

Several fellow aspies have tried providing you of advice on how to get out of your current situation and you´ve refused to listen to them making them give up on this.

Having said that if anyone attacks you you are more than welcome to report this attack. We try to see everything but this place is too big for three people to take care of it properly.

Dear Y-pod, I am replying to your post from Oct. 9 here instead of a personal message because I hope to refer some people here to read what you wrote. Your insightfulness about the individuality of Aspies really opened my eyes..I admit I was thinking of us as very similar in personality and I needed to see that we are not. Your entire post was/is very helpful to me and I thank you for writing it..your children are fortunate to have you for their mother. I just wish that more of us had been as fortunate. Sylkat :(

I'm not usually one to be subtle, but this clip explains how I feel better than my own words ever could:

Think of it this way

At least you can now see who is your friend

You may never have had the opportunity to properly see

without suffering as you do

I don't recall doing any of that... Yet I complained. I don't always notice though if I have upset people. I lose track of threads. A lot. If I have ever done this please tell me (PM if you want) in what way because I really want to know so that I don't do it again. This is not sarcasm by the way.

The only reason I feel like I am not enjoying it here any more is probably because I have got very bad depression at the moment and feel like a worthless pile of doo-doo...

On the contrary, I've always seen you as a pleasant character, Jellybean, that's all I'll say in this thread.

yes that is totally true. i definitely should have used a softer word than "everyone". Jellybean: you are outstandingly nice and supportive on WP, and i apologise that my words included you. you are there for other people, and you even ask for assistance when necessary. you are an asset to the site. my statement unfairly included you, and i am going to go back and edit it to be more general.

No problem :) Just feeling so down right now. It's nice to hear that I actually help sometimes!

Dear Jellybean, I haven't read as many of your posts as some more talkative members here (definitely including myself!), but you seem like a friendly ,caring person, and I like your 'blue-mouse-with-a-star-on-his-tail' avatar. I'm sorry you're going through depression; I'm prone to that myself...Sylkat. :(
