In general, any thread once created is open. You don’t “own” it, and you’re left to your own ability to control the narrative. One of my pet peeves is when posters use mods to shut down the dialogue when things get interesting. But I’m not a mod and it isn’t my call to make. In general terms, forum rules allow us to comment on anything at any time. That should never change.
The Haven is different. I don’t come here that often. I still disagree with shutting down dialogue even here, but this sub forum exists for the purpose of validation. I’m not going to defend any position I’ve taken anywhere else, even if I know I’m right. If you feel things are hostile outside Haven, leave it at the door. Ignore the haters.
To answer your question to me, Marknis: I know you’re going through some stuff and the age thing is getting to you. I’m a little more than 10 years older than you, so when I think about how much time I have left to do things, I get panicked. You accused me of being “juvenile.” Maybe you’re right. But I’ve lived most of my life being seeeeeerioooouuuusssssss about EVERYTHING that meant a lot to me. Being competitive and WINNING was fun, but once I got out of 4 years of college there wasn’t even a playing field to compete on and little payout to keep working on myself, and then I ran out of time once life got more complicated. By the time I was 35, I’d begun to realize that taking everything so seriously was a waste of a life. I don’t take myself so seriously anymore and people enjoy having me around. Maybe it’s too late to accomplish what I always wanted. But it’s not to late to get people on my side. Everyone is allowed to be an idiot sometimes, and I think we’re better for it.
