Flivver comes from the satirical book Brave New World by Aldous Huxley in which its a satirical reference to Ford (as the mysterious god-like figure who rules over the people) - a flivver is apparently a small cheap car like the Model T Ford - Huxley thus made "Ford's in his flivver - all's right with the world" - a sort of chant / meme. Thus I associated Fnord with Ford. One of the main protagonists of the story is a girl called Lenina. It's basically a satire of a "perfect" dystopian society / dictatorship in which all the babies are born in a sort of factory and family life has been abolished along with much else.

But, seriously. It seems like all the talk of people leaving has just made more people want to leave. I'm sure a lot of them wanted to before this, but it probably just solidifies that thought when so much attention is brought to others going and thinking about doing so.

People leave Facebook and Twitter all the time - but those are normal social media networks that can get very annoying at times. WP is different - it's supposed to be a support and social community for people on the spectrum (although not limited to only Aspies/Autists and related conditions).

I have always found it the most active of such websites since discovering it by accident in 2012.

It's not entirely different. The PPR forum and, in the past, Love and Dating (I'm not sure about now) have something of a low-brow social media climate. And the SJW gender-obsessed personal identity stuff in the LGBT forum seems similar as well.

Yeah, websites where you MUST state that you believe X, Y, and Z or you will get banned and blocked. Some feminist websites pull the old B&B on any members who even imply that trans-women face the same or similar forms of discrimination as cis-women; some "equal rights" websites will have nothing to do with any member who even implies that non-male, non-white people can be bigoted; and I'm sure most of us have seen that one website where aspie males are depicted as nothing less than cold-hearted, manipulative, and narcissistic monsters, and that even a suggestion that this image may not be accurate for all aspies is met with not just the B&B treatment, but a general purging of all posts submitted by the offending member. It's almost enough to inspire one to give up on the human species completely.
