I at least need a hug....I had a meltdown this afternoon.
But - guess what! Ok, guess! No, guess again.
In the mail today I received my weighted blanket which I had ordered. The blanket, which was specially made, feels very comforting. I ordered a blanket weighing a full 17 lbs, which is technically much too heavy than indicated for my size, but I know by experience what I like. My blanket is like a hug and reduces my sensory modality, etc.
Incidentally, do you all know of weighted blankets for autism (and related conditions)? Certain medical insurance plans will (partly at least) cover the cost since it's considered palliative treatment. My blanket is really pretty too; the place than designs them (for autistics) does speciality custom orders nearly exclusively. If you read Temple Grandin's "Thinking in Pictures," she writes about her 'hug machine' designed to alleviate her symptoms; hence the weighted blanket.
