the difference is [in my rudimentary Italian] the pasta sauce is PrRrRrEhgoh [gotta trill that R] whereas the pregnant preggo sounds like my cousin Vinnie in Philly. ;)

8O :( super lame, I'm sorry.
I've always heard it with a soft trill and a kind of breathiness on the e. But in all honesty, it's possible I just pronounce preggo so similarly to Prego that it seems the same to me. Idk, I haven't heard someone say "preggo" in a very long time.

having worked in an L & D for longer than 2 decades, I've probably heard it and variants of it enough for several lifetimes.

Ohhh. 8O That's terrifying. I saw my Mother give birth to my Sister... scared me so bad I went mute for the night.

it was often busy to the point of madness, with multiple births happening all at once, having to run from room to room. it wore me out. adrenal exhaustion. I remember reading about a little girl on an airplane flying in the sky, who heard a commotion in front of her section, peeked over the seat at another passenger precipitously delivering her baby, and she turned to her mom and said "now I know where babies come from."

That sounds supremely stressful. I wouldn't be able to do more than one day of that.
 That's a great story. Would've been funny to see.

on multiple occasions we hired people, they saw what bedlam it was and did not return the next day. that was rather dispiriting, as we were chronically short-staffed, mainly people who couldn't get hired elsewhere got hired where I worked, it was generally the last choice. they did pay us lots of overtime, per civil service/union rules, double-time-and-a-half for working overtime on holidays which I did almost always. now and then there were moments of lightness but more often it was drudgery punctuated by moments of terror.

My hat is off to you for being able to do that. I can't even hold down a regular job because the constant daily stimulus overloads me so badly I regress and go full burnout.

[pres. GW bush, the "little" bush ;) ] anyways, if I coulda gotten any other job even at half the pay, I woulda ditched that popsicle stand long ago.

Yikes. Isn't it great, that little catch-22 called College?
HA. Shrub, I like that.
I bet. I'd like to say at least there are more options now, but there really aren't. Though it's not as bad here as it was around 2010-2012. DISHWASHER jobs required 2 years experience. That was hands down the most obnoxious job wanted ad I'd ever seen.

I really wish suicide wasn’t a sin. I just want to die right now.

Situational or clinical suicidal thoughts? If you want to talk, I'm here.

I was a dishwasher, not for long, just a short job before I joined the army and in army basic. got my fill of it in the army during KP ["Kitchen Police" which is army talk for dishwashing at the mess hall].

People manly women(not you) on w make me feel suicidal. Like I get it I’m horrible worthless unlovable loser. It doesn’t need pointed out to me. So I guess situational.
Most the good women on wp have left since they also found wp horribly depressing. I’d leave but then I’d be all alone, so I guess I’d rather be abused here then be completely alone

My cousin just went into the army. He's a good kid, determined but very sweet on the inside. I hope it doesn't change his nature. I know it's usually not the case, but you never know.
