...My problem is so simply have no place to rest & get better! The shelter makes me roam around all day .I neither get enough sleep or e tough not walking around & lifting things! Even the hospital just says " oh. it's chronic " and not to be paid attention to by thrm . My kidneys. my anemia, the CHF, hypertension, aching body ...

Have you looked into getting a board and care place in your new location? Something like what you had in Patterson.

.Briefly, something that was more acceptable than Patterson could be alright - but I don't see that a back is all thst easily looked for.

Try starting with a search on Google. I did and it came up with a lot.

Redrobin62 especially and others have googled and posted a mountain load of housing resources available in Santa Cruz and other cities in California over the years.

I"m not able to normally listen to music or watch TV. I can"t rest read non'lillhsgratef books outside of bright duight maybe. with weak eyes and no prescription hlasded. I can't readily cry output about my disappointments, no privacy , I am often in various amounts of pain with the wrong position , I can't get enough ready sleep or rest...but, by gum. I can pretty much always stuff myself!

I guess I must not understand how these places work. I think from previous posts you said that rooms don't come with a bathroom. That is kind of a bummer, but even I (as a girl) could work that so that I would not need to venture out of my space unless I needed a shower, or to go #2. I can and have peed in a Gatorade bottle and thrown it out the next day, without a drop spilled.
Aren't you able to just get into you SRO and bar the door? It seemed as though most of your previous problems are due to 'run ins' with other occupants. What if you avoided them and stayed to yourself? Why would you need to worry about it being certified if you stayed away from everyone?

It is basically just room and board the same as a boarding house. Or a fulltime bed and breakfast thats also lunch and dinner. The only difference really is that there will be someone there 24/7 to help me in and out of the tub as needed and stuff like that. While I do enjoy a lot of solitude. My life has never been one of privacy as far as things like bathroom needs go.

Licensed places are less available and more expensive.
Unlicensed places offer an alternative to low-income individuals.
If you want licensed you are probably going to have to pay at least double and maybe more like triple or quadruple.
You were directed to the place in Patterson because it was within your means.

...I absolutely have no ability at all to leave my things at the shelter the 20-do hours it is closed . So. I am.maddively tired (sleepless) and ecsusted, and pained/prrdduref on my back csttuonh things around . at here is an alright\okay dinner, but a super-minimal breakfast, just a bowl of breakfast cereal (plus coffee if you drink it), no lunch. There were three feeds I could have gone to in San Francisco though O rarely ever wemtbto all. It is so hard to type and read on teeny phone now ' weak eyes, no prescription glasses. more.

The shelter is closed 20 hours/day? They give to two meals and sleep in 4 hours? What time do they expect you to leave by in the morning? What time must you be in by at night?

These 'things' you own are hampering you. I have know quite a few homeless. Treatment centers will often give out scholarship beds to homeless addicts and they, more than anyone else will accumulate 'things.' I guess it's because they acquire stuff during times of plenty, in anticipation of the times when they have little. In several situations they were like hoarders. I think the mentality of feeling like they don't have enough love, space, money, friends, etc... makes them fill up on 'things.'

I say you get a back pack, three changes of clothes, your phone, shoes and one book. When you finish reading the book, you trade it out for another and so on. That solves the problem of your wanting to read and feeling like you can't. Then you are free to explore these other options without fear of someone stealing your things. These 'things' are keeping you from exploring all your options because you feel you must be there to watch and make sure no one is stealing them. But, then they steal them anyway, so it's not doing any good to stay put.

Leave off with all the things... when you're on the road, you need to travel light. Jack Kerouac never would have gotten anywhere without traveling light.

Will you be in a licensed place, Ezra? I hope your parents can look in on you frequently to make sure these people treat you right. Which may not be something you want, if the goal is to get away from home. Worrying about people I have grown to know on this sight makes me very nervous. I worry a lot about kids, vulnerable individuals (kids, disabled, elderly, dogs, cats, etc). Which makes me miserable.
