Bet you never have snow there.

Neither do we, and certainly not Raleigh.

To see snow here, we usually have to drive several hours to mountain passes, or go on
a mountain hike. Occasionally it falls in towns or cities. Johannesburg has had snow every now and again but very rarely.

Yup it never snows here and not in South Georgia either (where I'm orginally from) but it does snow sometimes in North Georgia.

If it ever does snow it's like a freak occurence.

I find amusing when people living in areas that get no snow decorate their house with snow-themed decorations for Christmas every year. :P

In 2011, we in NYC had about 50 inches of snow on the ground for about two months straight.

To a Child dancing in the Wind

I

Dance there upon the shore;
What need have you to care
For wind or water’s roar?
And tumble out your hair
That the salt drops have wet;
Being young you have not known
The fool’s triumph, nor yet
Love lost as soon as won,
Nor the best labourer dead
And all the sheaves to bind.
What need have you to dread
The monstrous crying of wind?

II

Has no one said those daring
Kind eyes should be more learn’d?
Or warned you how despairing
The moths are when they are burned,
I could have warned you, but you are young,
So we speak a different tongue.

O you will take whatever’s offered
And dream that all the world’s a friend,
Suffer as your mother suffered,
Be as broken in the end.
But I am old and you are young,
And I speak a barbarous tongue.

W.B.Yeats

I used to live in New York too (Rochester, though, not NYC). A little before we moved to Kansas, while we were still trying to sell the house, we got 3 feet of snow in 3 days, and one of those days it didn't snow. I was about 5 then. I remember the garage door opening on to a big wall of white, because there was a giant snow drift against it, and when we got outside, I had to lift my legs up sideways almost up to my hips to be able to walk through it.

I also used to live in upstate New York and property in the ADKs. There were times the snow was 3-4 feet deep and deeper in drifts. I used to think it was fun. Now it is just too cold!

by and large, the older I get, the colder I get. I can now see why my late father was so hot on AZ.
