Exercise absolutely works the best for me. If you are injured or can't exercise, watching COPS, Lockup, or something else that shows pathetic behavior, or people in a worse situation than yours can make you feel better. I would not suggest this long-term as these shows are an utter waste of time. Try to avoid situations where you are forced to see others experience what you are lacking (if you just broke off a relationship, don't watch a romance movie). Video games that require fast reactions can take your mind off things too, although they can also get your temper up. It is only a short escape, but masturbation is always good.

Add cardio excercise to your repertior, just a few hours a week, would intitially suck, but eventually help you feel better to adapt to the crappy physiological disadvantages of having Aspie. Go swimming....

Also volunteer, take pleasure in knowing that you've sacrificed some time of our life in an investment that helped progress humanity, and soothed the pains of another personm and heh, done alot better than 3/4 of the planet. Just be a listening ear goes a long way to help a Homeless person forumlate plans of escaping the streets, or even using your Aspie talent of nitpicking to uncover possible strategies. I rememember the episodes with Underpants gnomes 1 (Steal underpants) 2 (????! !?) 3 Profit....

So how about inserting: Copy underware design, and making your own, or wash the underware, repackage them and sell them? for step 2.

Get some of your garden variety index cards. On one side write a negative thought you have. On the other side write out a more balanced thought to counter the negative one.

I have been extremely depressed lately..crying so much, but yes I do my yoga and walking and push myself to get out. It doesn't help that my grandfather is slowly dying,I've got a lot on my plate and we all know how sensitive us Aspies can get. The yoga helps a lot,as the foundation of yoga is breath. But I'm not happy where I am and cannot seem to get beyond that. However I realize my potential and what I need to do.It's just tough, especially when my friends are so hard to see. Just want a long talk, laughter and a hug....but that rarely seems to happen.

I wish I could sustain a good mood, it seems like the depressed/anxious days are the norm~meds only seem to do so much~it's the irretrievable feeling of never being able to connect. I feel like I libe in a bubble most of the time, very little 'real' feelings or experiences. Most of what I experience seems like a recording of someone else's life...o

I know of a fool-proof way for all of you to dealt with this, and I can tell you from firsthand expirence that it works every time: Do something about it!

If you've been feeling less than happy lately, then the best you can do is go ou of your way to fix things. Nothing will come from nothing, so do no expect writing your problems down here to quell them. If you want to get anywhere, you must bite the bullet and go out for it. If there is something that you want, then action, not thought, will allow you to get to it.

PS. Mind any errors you ma find in this post, typing on an iPod keyboard is fairly difficult.

The idea that a thread topic assuming that aspies are depressed makes perfect sense depresses me.

I'm going to go work out like crazy, it does help. Even just walking can relieve it a bit for me.

Walking is a very good way of relieving depression.

I read a very good book called Self Coaching for Anxiety and Depression,it was really helpful.Have been seeing friends several times a week, going out a little bit, exercising at least two hours a day, eating very healthfully, being as busy as I can be.All these factors help tremendously!

Not to be an evangelist (it's very unstoic) but, A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy linky teaches some really good skills for coping with "your lot in life."

My main way of coping is, I wander the earth. I’ve come to enjoy it so much, and made it into such a passion, I hardly think about those who have hurt me anymore.

Assisting the clergy of your local church, with their outreach iniatives that bring relief to so many people, and take pride that the glorious harmounious "Peoples'" government can't do that for their own people. That you a individual have more power than the mighty "Fool Jin Tao". All that idiot does is greasy up his hair. It's all he is good for. (now Jaing Zamin. THERE goes a evil spirited demonic dictator. Even has the shark teeth for it). Tao is just a clown. Like if you want to be a evil dictator that causes untold misery as your legacy, can you at least look like a heartless evil mutant Canabal (Zamin's shark teeth), instead of looking like a small ret*d child Fool? Deng Xaio Peng. Definatly looked like a undead Hutt like zombie Frengii weapons dealer (Quark's cousin). Fool looks and acts like Rom).

Anyways, with all these idiots causing great misery for others, take pride that as you help the world, and at the same time help yourself.... You validate another person by saying you are worth being assisted. While the CPC says, you're worthless we can't help you.
