I'm glad my parents are in different provinces now, because when they're together all they talk about is how the economy is going downhill, people are going to be carting around wheelbarrows full of money to buy a loaf of bread, there will be riots in the streets, most of the people in the world will starve to death, there will be World War III, technology will fall apart, the world will end, everyone will have to go back to the land, the people who haven't prepared and collected supplies for years will die, the cities will be abandoned and they'll turn off the power and the water in the cities and just walk out and let the plants and animals and drug-addicted gangs take over, the government will control every aspect of our lives, everyone will be dirt poor and slaves to the few rich people, and more doom and gloom. Now I'm worried. I knew I should have tried harder to collect supplies and that.

Which is why it's time to get those communes started.

That sounds like a good film.
(I wouldn't be that worried...)

Funny thing that, the world always seems to at the tipping edge, but then it DOESN'T.

No wonder you're glad they live far away if that's all they talk about ...

Depressing drivel ...

It could be said that this sort of think would be counter productive. Thinking negatively could cause people to panic, which would in turn artificially create such problems. Its best not to think of them :D
