Anxious about vacation.
My family is going to take a trip down to Boise tomorrow to do some searching for a place to live down there.
I am nervous about our safety on the trip, and worried that a tire will blow out and/or we will have a wreck on the way there. My dad found that one of the tires went flat a couple of weeks ago and had it taken in to Les Schwab and they filled in the hole and patched the tire.
It is a 12-14 hour road trip and covers over 523 miles from Columbia Falls, Montana to Boise, Idaho.
I am a basket case right now.
I know you're worried, but just try to relax and enjoy yourself. Easier said than done, I know. If something happens at least you are all together and will know how you are. Say your prayers and try to not think of bad things. We play word games on trips. Me, my husband and 2 boys, 20 and 18 years old. We will have each other try to guess who we are thinking of in' yes" or "no" questions. who ever guesses it goes next. also to keep our mind off of things we will all have to name a candy bar until someone cant think of one. Then change subjects and all say things you eat that are green, or something like that. Good luck, I know you are worried, I'm the same way.
Try to get some sleep. I feel the same way before vacation trips, and there are only a couple of things that make me feel better. The first is to have my favorite snacks to eat, especially if I have to take a plane (as the food is never very good on most planes). The food thing smooths out the anxiety a little for me. The second is to talk to people in your family and make them understand how worried you are. And they have to take you seriously--not make a joke about it or ignore it. Maybe you could get them to take lots of breaks along the way, and definitely stop if there's bad weather. Good luck.
I hate long journeys too, I usualy take my ipod (120gb so I can take all my 10k + tunes with me lol) and maybe a crossword/puzzle book. Unlike you probably I do enjoy spotting cars, animals in fields, truck drivers picking boogers etc :p
I worry a lot about the same things too, but I've come to the conclusion that I cannot stop living because something bad may happen to me. Think of all the GOOD things that might happen on this trip.
You must also talk to your family & let them know your this worried about it, sit them down & explain seriously. Your fears are real and they must listen. If your finding it hard to say it, write it down on a piece of paper or on your computer & have them read it. Keep it short & to the point.
I hope you have a good trip, staying away from home can be just as much fun as it can be worrying, I hated every last bit of the ride when we drove to the south of france a few years back, but once we got there it was amazing.
