its not WASTED. it depends what you define as a good use of your gifts.

you can use your gift without earning money OR wasting it, by teaching people about philosophies online.
not everything has to create an income in order to carry value :]

i know an income is better tho. just saying :]

That is a big worry.

Have belief that some skills may be useful in other odd ways.

Scorpileo;

I don't think your at all delusional, and I suspect many of us have spent most of our life feeling this way. Where I see the problem is that most of us have wasted our resources doing things that are non productive.

As I see it, we all have two resources to draw on: time, and our mind. If you use those toward things that you are fundamentally deficient in, the outcome is predictable. If you use them in ways that circumvent predictable failure, and direct them toward some tangeble goal, your odds of success are greatly improved.

My advice:

1) Pick a carrer path that involves some special interest to you.
2) Study the lifes of those who have been successful in those fields.
3) Structure your life in such a mannor as to avoid pitfalls and funnel as much of your resources into your goals as possable.

Good luck:)

Hi Scorpileo. I am 44 years old---the age that when I was your age I thought I would have owned an amusement park due to the money I would have made from playing music. Well...I am teaching high school instead. Failure---No. I love working with the gifted kids at my school. But, my gifts are mainly in music and writing---I am not earning a living from them. I am a professional musician, but I don't play enough gigs to earn enough money for one fancy dinner for two. But...those gifts are not wasted. Things have an interesting way of working out. It might take a lot of time---but it usually happens. I began playing the church organ in 2003---I love the organ---a childhood passion. And my amusement park? Well, I kind of got that...in model railroad scale (Ho 1:87 scale) in my basement. So...to be rewarded with your gifts doesn't mean you have to make money from them. And, whatever you do with your gifts doesn't matter as much as those gifts making you happy. I feel wonderful happiness playing the organ in the privacy of my own home---wonderful joy. Making yourself happy with those gifts is a goal you should meet rather than worrying about making it big with them out in the world. And who knows what will happen with those gifts. Just let them do what they are going to do and don't worry about it. In my 30s I worried about wasting my gifts---I think that is normal in us. You are young yet and have a whole future before you. And remember, our gifts are our gifts---and they are never wasted as long as we enjoy them.
