Does anyone take these medications? I do. I think I found a possable solution to my stress problem. Respirtal is my prime time medication but I usually take 2 Triletal pills when I wake up. But I noticed on the bottle it says take 1 pill twice a day, so I figured out that I should take a pill whenever I feel really really really stressed out. I tried it today and I went from raging anger and depressed to calm and normal feeling. Hopefally this will help me out within the current weeks, trust me, I need it. My Step Mother is home 4 1/2 days a week and I go practice driving with my perfectionist father every evening after dinner.

I know someone who takes Trileptal for epilepsy. That is the extent of my familiarity other than that it has a few peculiar side effects.

Trileptal is a standard med for epilepsy. It's known as an AED (anti-epilepsy drug) that is used in monotherapy or with other meds to control partial seizures in particular. Though it has dizziness, drowsiness, and fatigue as side effects, it is not known as a sedative or anxiolytic med the way benzodiazepines such as Valium or Ativan are.

"Respirtal" is not a med I'm familiar with (and as far as I'm aware, it does not exist). Do you mean Risperdal?

I was on Trileptal for seizures but had too many side-effects to continue with it and switched to another med.

I understand Trileptal also gets prescribed commonly for Bipolar disorder.

If I were you, I would call the doctor and ask for very specific instructions on how and when to take your medication. In my experience, neither of those meds are "take when you feel like it", but need to be kept pretty even in your system. But please, ask your doctor. (I don't remember how old you are, but you are in the care of your parents, right? How is it that they don't know the precise dosage and instructions? Sorry, I'm just thinking like a parent.)

My son is on Trileptal and Abilify (similar to Risperdal) for mood disorder. He has a morning dosage and an evening dosage, every day. My understanding is that you don't want to only take it when you feel like you need it, because then the levels in your body are going to be going up and down all the time. But you need to check specifically what your doctor wants you to do. I would expect that taking one trileptal in the morning and one in the evening would be the way to go, but the doctor might have something else in mind, for your specific situation. So check.
