The doctors keep assuring me I'm not aspie... but I don't know what explains my obsessiveness and other stuff I do. They say I'm OCD for the obsessivness, my meltdowns are cause by bipolar (which I do have BTW, they say I have schizophrenia too, but that I disagree with), They said my stimming is abnormal but said nothing more, and bad social skills I especially had as a child (seriously, there was a freakin' college student that used to follow me around to teach me social interaction). They admit I have bad social skills, but that could also be caused by my other problems.

But I can't get this disorder out of my head for long, I keep coming back here. I would probably never be diagnosed, cause of good eye contact and an overall "warm" personality and my dx of a schiz-related disorder, but it bugs me to no end.

:x

Maybe you should go see an autism specialist. I also heard doctors don't like patients coming in and saying they might have this or that. Instead, all you can do is go in and talk about your symptoms and your problems.

I agree with Spokane Girl that you should see an autism specialist. How qualified are the people who saw you? The photo you had up in your avatar reminded me of one or two people I met at my old AS group... I cant see why you wouldnt get a PDD diagnosis of one sort or other... anyway you need to make sure you havent seen just any old psych.

The psych I saw was just any old psych. My insurance won't cover a professional, I've looked into it. I did have a free chat with the expert evaluators on the phone and based on that they did want to evaluate me, but the price was too high.

My therapist... he works with ASD patients, and he has wavered from calling me mild AS to saying I just have traits, but he can't diagnose. He thinks my dx of OCD is incorrect, and I should also get ADHD.

I've had about 4-5 laypeople say I'm on the spectrum though. One was on the spectrum himself, one relative, one lady in a bipolar support group that worked extensively with asperger's, a former roommate hinted at it, and my former special ed teacher said it made sense.

I mean I keep focusing on my school records I was able to get... seriously, a child that was in special ed with anger outbursts and lack of social skills, and who carried a bird book around and talked to everyone that was around about those birds. (though I also had ADHD an oppositional defiant disorder symptoms too, and I'm bipolar now... so it could have been that too)
