Do any of you guys use a diary (or a journal if you're a "manly man" that can't say diary :P)?
I stopped just before May of last year and just recently started up again with all the depression coming up again. It's really helping, it's not a permanent fix, but it's going to help me get by until my next therapy session (after Tues. she's going on vacation for 3 weeks). I talk to my Diary as if he/she/it is a person, which makes it easier to write. It feels almost selfish to do so otherwise.

I was a compulsive journal-keeper for many years..the habit got squelched by the advent of the blog.
I was a somewhat hyper prolific blogger...the kind of stuff nobody reads...but lately I have been so scattered all over the place...it is nothing like it used to be.

I start up diaries enthusiastically and then drop it within a few weeks or a couple of months. Same with blogs. I dont really know why but journalling just does not appeal to me.

I'm the same. It's always depression like problems that cause me to start writing and it definitely helps but once I'm not feeling so bad any more I loose the urge to write.

I'll do the journaling or blogging in spurts, writing letters is the same way, it takes a while to get going, then I write a book. If it works for you go for it.

I have heard there are three kinds of people in this world:

1) People who make things happen;
2) People who let things happen;
3) The rest of us who wonder what is going on.

If I ever figure that out, I might know what to write down.

Same for me. I have had several diaries over the years, however my writing/speaking/thinkingn style is very "to-the-point" and so I usually sum up my thoughts in just a few sentences. This does not make for very interesting reading! ;)

I just write down what I'm thinking about life, my day, my relationships with people, etc, and I find things out about myself along the way :D

I am almost addicted to writing a diary. I haven't been without one for quite a few years (I destroy the old ones every year or so, because each one gets to a point when it's just too embarassing to keep). The ones I still have are my last one (October to last week), and the one I just began.

I had one before that (August to October) that went missing, which is my worst nightmare. I never found out where it went, but I don't think anyone read it, because if they had I would never hear the end of it.

Is it weird that I sometimes ask my diary questions? Like, rhetorical type ones: "What am I supposed to do?", "Did I mention that ... ?", etc. Obviously it can't reply, LOL.

I turned my diary on Livejournal into a book that I plan to get published. Over 400 pages even when you exclude the ads and links and other LJ crap.

I do have one, because sometimes I feel like writing. The problem is, I can't think of what to say. A typical entry is some disjoint thing like:

Quote:
Leftover chicken. Keep calories under 1300 to lose one pound per week. protein carbs fat
Homeschooling. Regional Center.
Snow Cake, now that is interesting. Go away, Florence, nobody wants you here!
Rasputin A coin. A leaf. A book. A flower. The ArchBishop's balls.
Close My Eyes
Closet Land
Seye ym esolc Close My Eyes Sinclair.
Lemon Zing! Melon Ping! I'll take a bottle of Lemon Zing, please.

London and Paris. Would you like a drop of ale, sir? Wot is this? Tastes like piss.

Make Lego piano for A.B. Clear work space.

And lots of doodles. When I get out a piece of paper and try to plan my day, or my life, or just make some sense of things and bring some semblance of order to my existence, that's about as far as I get. I've always been that way. The sign of a nonfunctioning brain, I suppose. Sigh.

I've kept my diary for over 7 years now, started it when I was about 17. I also reffer to it as if it were a person. I sort of feel lost if I forget to write in it lol.

I don't do it every day, but when I do write in it I can't imagine why I stopped writing in it in the first place.
I've experimented with the WP blog, but it just seems wrong to have everybody see my personal thoughts.

The WP blog feature is malfunctioning anyway. Some people noticed that a lot of their blog entries are missing.
