This is it, I've had it.

Calculus classes at the University of Wyoming have this thing called webwork, which is basically where we do homework problems and enter the problems online through a web application. I don't know what stupid Motherf***er came up with this clusterf**k of a system, but they'd better hope I don't find out, cause it is the reason I had to drop Calculus last year and the reason I'm going to fail it this year.

So I get my first homework assignment today, due Sunday at midnight, and I do everything I'm supposed to do, I work the problems on paper before entering them into the applet. Guess how many problems I got right, out of 8? ONE. The one I did get right I recalculated after getting wrong the first time. The rest I am dead sure are correct, but the f*****g program won't recognize it as correct.

So I decide I'll go to the Math Lab to figure out what the hell I'm doing wrong (cause God forbid there's a bug in the program, it must be the wrong answer!). I have to ditch my bike halfway there because the gears got jammed, something that always happens because of the f*****g -10 degree weather that we get CONSTANTLY this time of year. So I leave it lying there on the sidewalk, cause I don't have time to deal with this s**t. I get to Ross Hall and guess what? The f*****g math lab is closed and won't open until Tuesday of next week, by that time both this assignment AND the one after it will be past due. I mean, what the hell? They didn't get the memo that the semester started again?

I have had it. I never should have decided to become a computer scientist. Sure, it sounds cool and all, but with all this BS I have to put up with in the required math classes, it's just not worth it!

Seriously, I should have never moved here. I hate college, I hate UW, and I especially f*****g hate Wyoming in general. There's nothing here but freezing cold temps and snow. Why do we even need this state? Let's just let Al-Qaida nuke it or something, because it has seriously no worth to me or to America.

I don't know what the f**k I'm going to do now, but I can't pass Calculus like this.

Could I see (some of) the problems you did, and your answers? I'm a math grad student, so maybe I could help you out here. If your answers really are correct, then maybe we could formulate a formal complaint together before due date. Please PM me if you want.

@dddhhg: Thanks for the offer, but I'm probably just going to take this up with my instructor tomorrow once I've calmed down a bit. It's the instructors that post the questions and correct answers on the applet, and it's possible a mistake was made. Or maybe perhaps the applet is reading my correct answers wrong somehow. At any rate, I'm going to speak with her and maybe the department head and the people at Disability Services and see if there's some way I can do my homework without having to enter it online.

The real problem with the applet is that it gives you no feedback on possible mistakes, it simply tells you either right or wrong. For someone like me who can't fix a mistake unless I have a general idea of WHY I was wrong, it's a real pain in the ass. Maybe there's an alternative, I'll talk with a few people and see.

Ok, do as you like, my friend. It sounds quite reasonable to do it that way. :D

Still, I would like to see some of those questions, at least if you have the time to copy them into a message. Sometimes it's just a matter of forgetting to simplify things or of having to put things in a neat order. Like, I once forgot to simplify Sqrt(49) to 7, after a long and arduous calculation. Fortunately, the instructor was nice enough to give me full credit anyway, since the point of the exercise was not the ability to do arithmetic but to perform a numerical integration by hand.

COMPLAIN!

I had the same problem with the math program my dad gave me to practise with. It would miscalculate my scores, etc.
