*Obviously posting how I feel on a messageboard to strangers isn't keeping it to myself* ANYWAY! I cry over the College issue at times (thinking of the past or whatever stuff sets me off.) I tell my mom I'm fine/tired etc. and she gets mad at me. So I ask do you tend to keep your emotions to yourself?

In a short word: no. I don't ever hide my emotions.

I disclose them if I know it's somebody who genuinely cares. Usually this results in late nights on Facebook chat and lots of catharsis :P. If someone asks me how I'm doing (even my mom, who of course genuinely cares, more than anybody else) I'll automatically say "fine."

I think I tend to. Its just that my emotions tend to be too powerful for other people to deal with I risk sorely embarrassing myself.
It's usually been better for me keep things in check emotion wise as much as i can.

I don't know if it's really such a good thing though. :?

All the time, I keep everything bottled up inside.

I don't. I have trouble containing them. I have outbursts too often.

Annoyance is really the only thing I share with others :). All other emotions are suppressed until I defuse in my room.

I seem to have Alexithymia which means that I don't really have the words to express or cenceptualise emotions for others or myself. I don't specifically keep my emotions to myself though and when possible I try very much would like to share them - just don't really find myself able to.

I don't like telling people how I feel unless it's a psychiatrist who needs that sort of information to help me. Being secretive actually makes me feel better.

Yes, I do this quite often. Sometimes this is due to a lack of emotional awareness, but usually it's because I feel too awkward to say how I feel. I probably keep too many things to myself. Whenever people say hurtful things to me I hardley ever show or tell them how I feel. Instead, I often wind of crying in my room when I get home. I'm hoping to improve with this while taking psychotherapy.

I do that all the time but am trying very hard not too to my girlfriend as she then get really worried about me and hurt that I feel like I can't talk to her. I don't like upsetting and worrying her and I do nearly always feel better after talking about my worries or problems. I am getting better though I often feel like I have to force myself to say and always say 'nothing' when asked what's wrong at least once. It's like an automatic response, I don't even think it but I say it.

I feel a since of relief for some reason after getting upset. :-)

I find that I keep a lot of my emotions hidden most of the time. I tend to withdraw rather than reach out, even towards loved ones. I have a hard time expressing my feelings, and the sadder or angrier or stressed out I get, the harder it gets to talk to people at all.

I don't even know what my own emotions are half the time, I can't tell anyone else!

I remain relatively emotionless throughout the day, until I get home.
Maybe it is because of something I am missing, but their (my sister and mother) reasoning is just terribly flawed.
Even when posed with good evidence attacking their standpoints they hold their ideas.
Mostly this expresses itself in either irrelevant and stupid remarks (my sister) or saying that It is so anyway and that the conversation is over (my mother).

But when I do have emotions (and they are always extreme, my emotional pallet is very much black and white) I am told that I should act less angry (not my only emotion but the only situation in which I am told this) which makes no sense to me, because:
1. People will underestimate how angry I am and write it off as 'no big deal'.
2. The emotional stress in myself is not getting out.
But I cannot control my emotional outbburst, because they are so extreme.
