I'm in trouble. My parents got mad at me for not handing in an assingment on time for school.
background
I'm self-dxed, but strongly think I'm an aspie. I've 'tested' three friends by describing the features without saying AS. All three said it fit me perfectly.
I told my parents a few months ago but we didn't discuss it much because my dad's almost always off on business trips.
However, I once mentioned in passing that I visit WP.
the problem
Ok, my biggest issue right now is that my parents decided that a good punishment would be to take away my laptop. This is a really, really big problem. My computer is now in the living room.
I've tried to discuss this with them, but they won't give it back until I show more effort. I've told them that I'm already putting in my best effort, but they don't seem to belive me.
Thing is, my dad blocked WP from the house, and my two favorite sites. I'm pretty sure Neopets would count as a major special interest of mine, it has been for years. Dad blocked Neopets and all access to my fave. TV shows, my other obsession (House, MD and Bones).
I can sometimes get limited access to them through proxies, but I can only do it in the living room.
I've figured out by now not to make my stimming too obvious there (usually reciting phrases and clapping) but I'm in there 24/7, so I haven't gotten to stim at all in a week.
I've had all access to my special interests blocked and I haven't been allowed to stim in a week. In the bathroom today, I started to feel quite ill, most likely due to this. I had to do something. I was having a very strong urge to claw my eyes out or bang my head against a tiled wall. I controlled this, and bit my arm to calm down.
Now, my parents are ticked and think that I've taken the first step on the road to cutting, etc as far as I can understand.

I think I need a bit of help. I can't reply to anyone since I'm using a public computer so I won't be back posting on WP for a while, but I can view your posts through proxies.

Ok, so do your parents not know about AS? If not go to the library if you have acess to one and get a few books about it and ask your parents to please read about it. or show them websites about it.

How are you on a computer if your parents took it away?

Why are you not allowed to stim?

im confused. sorry.

You sound pretty young. Are there any school counselors or anyone else at school who you feel you could trust? I don't know exactly how it works, but if you are in school you may be able to get an assessment for free.

I think that you need to persuade your parents into reading about AS. What they're doing is wrong.

To explain, I suspect I'm an aspie, my parents and close friends agree. However, my parents and I never fully discussed it, since Dad had to go off on a business trip (he spends maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the school year in the same country as us).

My parents put my comp in the living room, and blocked WP from the internet at our house. However, I posted earlier on a public computer a few blocks away, and I'm at school right now.

I am allowed to stim, but not really in the living room, I'm not exactly sure, I think it bothers my parents. It's not usually an issue, I spend maybe 2 hours max in the living room per day usually (breakfast and dinner). I haven't gotten some quiet time to stim, cool down, etc in a week, and it's messing with my system. I've been bothering more people, since I'm less sensitive than usual, and I'm having a hard time concentrating (especially on the school bus. It's a nightmare on a normal day, with 7+ kids shouting at the top of their lungs.) I think this stuff is because I haven't gotten to cool off or have anything to do with my special interests in more than a week, and I probably won't get the comp back for another 2+ weeks.

Not allowing stimming or special interests? that's awful :( .
I think the first thing you need to do is talk to a school counciler or something, specifically with regard to getting a diagnosis. once you have a diagnosis try to get them reading books about autism.

another thing it might be in your best interests to do are say to your parents, clearly and calmly, "i don't understand why you have blocked these websites, or why my computer has been moved, or why I'm not allowed to stim, could you please explain the reasoning behind this". While the computer being moved COULD have legitimate reasoning, the blocking of special interest websites is illogical, because you do get to socialise on such websites (for example talking to us right now on wrongplanet) and stimming is a basic response to sensory input. (maybe liken this to eyes closing slightly when the sun is particularly bright or other similar examples to attempt to explain why stimming is neccasery)

I hope things improve for you.

I plan to talk to the school councilor on Wednesday.

The computer/website thing is because they expect me to work on HW 24/7 until the end of the year, to 'get organized' since I handed in a grand total of 3 assingments late this year to date. I tried to explain that it's very counterproductive since I can't wind down, but they told me to watch TV or read a book. I've watched every single Bones episode airing on Fox in Hong Kong already.

I usually hole myself up in my bedroom. Pretty much the only thing I think is a stim that they ever noticed was my toy (details: my post here http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp2832191.html ).

If I really do turn out to be an aspie, I'm a mild one, and I'm usually very good at dealing with overstimulation (conditioning, to be honest. I was born and raised in New York City, Manhattan to be exact. I can ignore crowds and noise far better than most small-town neurotypicals.) Therefore, I'm usually not easily identifiable from external behaviors-until you get me to speak.

Actually, I don't usually fit most of the criteria. This is mostly just because I taught myself how to ignore any size and noise level crowds, and I don't monologue about my special interests to anyone except my parents and close, close friends. I was teased for strange interests before, so I made a rule never to talk about anything I'm passionate about to anyone who I don't completely trust.
