Coming here for all I have I have learned a few things about AS, and nothing about myself.
Anyone who knows about AS always seems to have a stupid idea that people with AS have to be sweet, kind and immune to the normality of say, picking up chicks, or lying in general.
I guess because some can't they think everyone shouldn't.
Lying is necessary in life, but thats not my point.
My point is more or less to ask people what they think, do you think people with AS are more prone to being stupidly nice, or does it just happen for no real reason.
(I mean when dealing with girls, most guys with AS turn into complete sexist ass holes).

Wow, 12000 posts and you learned nothing about yourself?

Do they?

Wrong, but it's not your point, so carry on.

Some people with AS may develop a 'door matty' character because they get into too much trouble when they attempt to be assertive. There are other routes towards developing similar.

I really shouldn't respond to such a clear attempt at inciting negativity.

The trouble with this question is that you're making too many assumptions that aren't necessarily true. I haven't gotten the impression that people with AS "have" to be anything, at least not here in this forum. If a certain segment of the AS population act "stupidly nice" instead of normal, perhaps it's only the easiest way to be socially acceptable without having to mimic complex personality traits. We're often told "just be nice" growing up to deal with the parties we don't want to attend or the cousins we don't want to play with or just generally to keep us from being ourselves, which all too many NT's consider 'rude'. If I'm nice to someone, it's because it comes naturally to me to do so. But I'm no doormat, at least not anymore. Teaching young men with AS to not be doormats is a long process, and not every aspie has someone around willing to take the time to help them do it.

Edit: I really gotta type faster, Moog just said everything I said, but more concisely.

In case you're still here, it's simple: You made some statements based on incorrect (we feel) assumptions, and we called you on it. If you're depressed, tell us why. Don't resort to self loathing AND take every aspie with you. We can try and help you, but we won't let you get away with saying things that just aren't true.
