Today did not end well. It was the last day for a summer program at Pikes Peak Workforce Center called the "Industrial Revolution". I wanted to get contacts from many of the other people in the program, including a few staff members. However, I felt that I had to take the first possible bus downtown, even though the bus I needed to transfer onto wouldn't arrive for another 30 minutes, thus it wouldn't delay me if I stayed at Pikes Peak Workforce for another half hour and catch the next bus downtown.
So, I said goodbye to everybody and rushed out of Pikes Peak Workforce and up a couple of blocks to the bus stop. I managed to get contacts from only three people, four if you include the fact that I added one guy to my Facebook account a year earlier. That was less than half of the people that I had planned to remain in contact with.
I believe that there are two factors that caused this. First, I hate being late for anything, whether it be late to work, school, social events, etc. Second, I am still used to having to rush to a bus in order to make it home an hour earlier that I could otherwise.
At the downtown terminal, I was on the verge of a meltdown. Thankfully, there weren't that many people at the terminal and very little stimuli. Fortunately for me, the anticipated meltdown did not occur.
Still, even though I have calmed down in the past two hours since getting off the bus at the intersection half a block from my house, it is sad to know that I won't be in contact with most of the people in that program due to this. At least I will be remaining in contact with four out of the five people that I wanted to stay in touch the most.
