Is anyone else here sick of seeing these annoying jokes all over the internet? Whenever the term "autism" comes up, usually "Asperger syndrome" is short to follow... And with comes this flock of lifeless dicks on the internet that immediately crack these stupid jokes, and that really pisses me off...

It's bad enough we have to hear God-knows how many stupid Chuck Norris being compared to God jokes, but now it feels like an Aspie's perspective on life is to become the ass end of everyone's jokes (no pun intended; for the love of god...) no matter what society they are in, on or offline.

Does anyone else here feel the same way about these stupid jokes?

Sometimes.

Then I remember the really good aspie joke (it's actually an advert - you'll find it at the end of some of the more recent TED.com videos) with the guy who changes a minus to a plus in the other guy's multi-wall mathematical equation. That joke wouldn't be funny if there were no aspies...

I just say "If I'm an 'assburger' then you're the
basket of buttnuggets to go with that order".

Yes. I am quite tired of people makeing hahahs out of something that is a concern to someone else. That is not helpful. Also, the chuck norris jokes are old, so they feel like trying to read a nice interesting book in private, and having some jerk get in your face to bother every inch of your perspective for hours.

EVERYTHING is made fun of. Everything. Everybody is a butt of jokes. You just have to laugh with them.

This is only as problem if you're in the US. The rest of the world that speaks English won't have this problem

Hahhaha, I laughed hysterically the first time I saw this. And some of my favourite youtubers appear on his video skits.

True. It strikes me as a particularly American phenomenon. I've never come across it over here.

Plus, it's incredibly juvenile, and I wouldn't be able to take anyone who made such a joke seriously. I would write them off mentally as someone not worth my time.

I suppose that the ass-burger jokes are no different that giggles in a third-grade science class when the topic of Uranus comes up. The "your anus" pun is so prevalent that many planetarium workers pronounce it "yoor-AN-us" or "YOOR-an-us" (which is less desirable because it sounds like "urine us", as opposed to a somewhat meaningless "you ran us" in the first choice).

Perhaps we should change the pronunciation too. Instead of saying "ASS-per-ger", we can pronounce it "ahs-PER-ger", which is actually more proper, since Hans Asperger was Austrian. Or heck, why not make it French-sounding and say "ahs-pehr-ZHAY". The options are endless.

We've all heard ass burgers a million times. I just laugh with whomever says it, even though I die inside a little. Granted if they say it from instinct not knowing how much of a cliche it really is/they don't know what aspergers is, then it's going to be slightly annoying.

Yeah, I had a boyfriend make that joke to me. When I explained my Asperger's to him, his reply was "so you're ret*d?" My friends laid into the ignorant prick. This guy would make me the butt of his jokes and if I told him I didn't like it, he'd beat me later or say something cruel to send me into a meltdown. So yes, I hate those jokes with a passion. :/

I blame the medical profession and the media, they should have kept AS a secret and then there wouldn't be any jokes.
