Even for a few hours. I get bored and lose my motivation.

Except of course being aspie and having few close friends I don't just call someone up to hang out. I try to plan as much as possible in advance but in between those days where I have plans I just watch TV and do nothing. Argh... What to do. Why is this :wall:

I'm alone too and I hate it. Not only does it cause <gasp> extreme lonliness, it's embarassing too.

Sounds like a plan.

I don't know why but my special interests don't last long so when I'm at home I get really bored. Is that unusual?

When I was living with my parents, I didn't know the feeling of loneliness, either.
Now that I live alone, I know it. But nevertheless, I don't want to change back. The advantages prevail.

After all these years of living with others, I know that I will truly appreciate the peace, quiet and most of all, the FREEDOM to do exactly what I want, when I want. Nobody ordering me around, nobody yelling at me over every stupid little thing, nobody constantly yapping at me, nobody interrupting my reading, watching TV / movies, or music... something I've always dreamed of - a peaceful, quiet life. There are much, much worse things in life than being alone, trust me.

This.

I only feel lonely when I am bored, though. In theory, if I had something to do and I never got bored with it, I could live as a hermit and I would not feel lonely at all.

I have the same problem. Apparently, it is a sign of depression. Not an unusual thing, sadly.

All humans need some kind of contact with other humans. Even only for a few minutes in our case.
But yea, your whole purpose here biologically is breeding and species propagation - so i guess that makes sense.
Im lucky i can hear my neighbours thru the wall when i turn my music off - so you feel more like part of a group even when your not :P

OP, it sounds less as if you're lonely and more as if you waste time when you're alone.

Try making a list of interesting and fulfilling things to do. Read a book, learn a skill, write something, learn the history of whatever, create something that helps people, etc. There's so much to do and learn, I can't imagine being bored like that.

Fighting boredom helps a little, it's still not the whole solution though. Usually, if you read a good book or accomplish something noteworthy, you want to have someone to share it with. For some people, they can get by by posting about it online, others, want/need someone close to share it with. That's how I am. Same if something bad/sad happens to me. I don't have anyone in my life to share anything with or talk to about anything important.

Do you like pets? You are never alone when you have a pet.
