Should I have said something in this situation?

So I walk out this morning to get the paper. Our neighbor is walking his dog and he is peeing in our yard.

Is that considered a big deal? I am trying to be laid back about things, but not sure if I should have said something. At the same time I don't want to be a pushover.

What if the dog poops and the neighbor picks it up. Is that a reason to say something?

If your neighbor was peeing in your yard then I'd say something (grin).
His dog is going to go where it's going to go.
If he doesn't pick up the dog poo and you're sure it was his dog then you can politely ask him to pick it up.
Don't sweat the small stuff :)

The only thing that would irritate me is when the person walking the dog doesn't pick up the poo from peoples yard. I always bring several small baggies when I'm walking my dog. T

If you start to see big yellow dead spots in the yard (and are the type to be concerned about your grass being lush) you might want to ask him to have his dog pee elsewhere. I think that there are sprays you can get to help the lawn "green up" also. Once in a while shouldn't be an issue but if it's all the time, it will eventually kill the grass.

Is it a big deal to you? You're the one who has to decide what you do - and don't - want to object to. Every person has their own threshold.

Personally, even if no dog is ever allowed to pee or poop on my lawn, all the birds, squirrels, cats, skunks, raccoons, opossums, occasional foxes, deer, and coyotes are going to do whatever they want wherever they want. So I don't bother to worry about a dog who's stopped to check his p-mail. :D

Of course, lawnmowers are one of my eternal torments, so I hate the whole concept of "lawn care" anyway. This no doubt also has a big influence on how I'd react. Which is why I say that you are the one who needs to decide if this is something that matters to you.

Don't be nasty about it. Just be polite.
