A walk usually helps. There's no problems so large that if you walk long enough you will eventually forget about them and begin wanting to sit down and eat.

Yes, I am serious and I am also correct.

If you stabbed yourself you'd be in a psych ward or on your way there after medical treatment.

A good laugh also helps. There are lots of funny movies available to rent and own.

If you need to be in the psych ward then do it! Sometimes it's the best way to address suicidal ideation and self-injury, and they will help you learn more constructive ways to deal with it while you get your meds adjusted (if the psychiatrist thinks it's needed).

I once just went to a policeman and told him I needed to be locked up because I was having thoughts of homicide and I could not get rid of them. So in your case, just go tell someone you are having thoughts of self-harm and you do not really want to do that. As long as your admission into a psych unit or wherever is voluntary, you cannot be held there against your will unless/until a judge or some other "officer of the court" (such as even a cop observing bizarre behaviour*) believes you actually *will* harm yourself or someone else if allowed to leave.

(*Note: I have never been involuntarily "locked up" for *being* crazy -- I have only ever been locked up involuntarily for *acting* crazy.)

thank you for sharing such a personal story of your life. when i was in the army they made us medics do rotating guard duty on the psych floor of the hospital i was stationed at. a not- pleasant reminder that i belonged in there myself. i knew then that if i were locked up in there in physical restraints, i would go catatonic on them.

Man, homeless people are dumb as bricks. There are so many ways to get a place to stay and a meal, this thread is an example. If you are ever homeless, just do like the one guy said, "tell a policeman you have homicidal thoughts" and they will lock you up in a psych ward. Free room and board, free food and you get to meet interesting people. Also, the chicks are extremely hard up, let me tell you.

I think a military psych ward would be about that last place I would ever have wanted to even only have to stand guard.

Many years ago, I worked as a nurses' aid in a detox that doubled as a crisis-intervention unit for psych "clients", and I could not handle just reading the books about mental illnesses. The one thing I have come to learn, however, is this:

The only person who is truly insane is the one who does not know s/he is.

So then, you and I and many others still have a great chance of surviving, eh?!

I drink to cope, knowing I'll never be accepted by anyone. I used to smoke marijuana, then I tried cocaine. The world isn't ready for me. I just know I'll have the Creedonian folks to help me out. They're always there for me. I know I can always talk to them.

i have my own world as well, a world which welcomes me, loves me, wants me, values me, needs me. it is my true home [other than heaven between incarnations].
