Quote:
Swedish man commits suicide online

Stockholm - A Swedish man who broadcast his own suicide online has been identified as Marcus Jannes, Stockholm daily Expressen reported Tuesday.

Jannes, 21, rigged up a web camera and created a discussion thread on the Flashback web site Monday morning where he wrote about his plans to hang himself.

He said he had poor social skills and was lonely, citing that he had Asperger's syndrome and autism. 'I have made up my mind to kill myself,' he wrote.

His entries soon attracted hundreds of other Flashback users. Some expressed disbelief, others realised that Jannes intended to go ahead with his plans and tried to alert emergency services.

Meanwhile, his sister was contacted by a friend who identified Jannes who also posted his plans on the social networking site Facebook. When she failed to reach Marcus over the phone, she rushed to his flat but could not get in, the newspaper said.

Police and emergency services arrived at the scene and forced their way into the flat, but efforts to resuscitate Jannes failed.

Jannes' family who live near Sodertalje, south of Stockholm, said they wanted his name to be released to prevent rumours and false information.

Very sad story - it's also very upsetting that those who saw his comments didn't alert the police :( .

It's disheartening to see the imbecilic reactions on some sites - the world is full of self-righteous morons.

some people tried to prevent marcus from doing it... and the police arrived at the scene very shortly after marcus was passed away. maybe 5 minutes or so.... but they couldn't revive him.

sadly some other people recorded the suicide and uploaded it to liveleak.

... marcus obvious had a very strong will to die. and he is free now.

That's sick and shameful - what the hell is wrong with some people?!

You're right, Marcus is free now... I'm sorry for his family though...

no matter where we are when we are not normal we will mostly be isolated and be lonely
Jannes didnt want to commit suicide
Society(the normal one) probably drove him to do it by crapping down on Jannes life everyday

RIP Jannes

This hits me hard. What a horrible way to go. The people on the Internet chant to do it and are merciless. They upload it everywhere, watching it for entertainment.

Rushing over there and being outside was probably the impetus he needed.

Could have been approached differently, but at the time I'd probably have done the same as the sister did.

I'll probably get cornered for posting this video, but this is just my way.

A brave Aspie has gone, he did what his heart desired. He did what me and others are too afraid to do.

What gives the right for others to interfere in his plans? How dare they!

Those people who tried to stop him, as well as his sister, what have they done to help him? Nothing! What would they do when they stopped the suicide? Nothing!

He was in the position to kill himself, so that means no one tried to help him, not even his sister, who strangely enough rushes around to his place. Why? Guilt, I presume. Now she can look at herself and the brother she lost, the one she did nothing for.

Thats a bit harsh. The sister will be feeling bad enough already without this. Leave her be

Reality is harsh and so is the reality that her brother is very very very gone.

That's what I fear was most likely the case here. I know a majority of us Aspies would be content with our lives if we werent governed by a society that insists we are wrong with every and anything we do socially, emotionally, physically, mentally, etc

What was his story? Was his life really that bad that suicide was the only option, probably not actually, but I can imagine why he did it. Shame, he probably could have got over his problems with time.

Yes he did. He said so and then killed himself.
