My brother is being a little jerk to me latley. It mainly revolves around our seperate taste in video games. I don't play shooters or most rated M games. I like rated E, E10 or sometimes T games. Here are some situations where he has really shown himself.

Me: I'm getting a game about hamsters
Brother: baby!! !!
Me: And why did you call me that?
Brother: Because your 17 and don't play rated M games!

Me: Oh cool there's a Hello Kitty thing on Netflix
Brother: :Laughs: What the heck Sam your 17! What's your freakin problem!! !!

Me: Oh cool my Banette just grew to level 60
Brother: :giggles: Should'nt you be playing Halo and Modern Warfare?*

This can go on and on. I've had enough of taking lip from a 12 year old. I'm trying to ignore it but he keeps on and on about it.

*Halo and Modern Warefare are his favorite games

Not to mention he tells all his "friends" on XBOX live what a "baby" I am. Stupid preteens.

My little brother used to make fun of me like that except I'm a girl. He grew out of it though.... Honestly I think he was embarrassed by me. Now he doesn't give a crap what I like sometimes he even sits with me to watch cartoons.... or the Disney channel...... as long as no one else is around.

I presumed you were male from the post too.
He's generalising that because your older you should like older games - but also generalising you should like male games?
Weird. Just ignore him.

Can you tell him to buzz off? I grew up an only child so I don't know the things that work against little brothers.

You're a girl, Halo and Modern Warfare are mostly guys games and too old for him anyways. Perhaps saying "I'm not a guy, buzz off (insert insult)" would help get him off your back.

Do your parents understand these games aren't appropriate for his age-group? My bf played them a lot a while back and on the multi-player there is a lot of swearing, sexual references and other adult subjects talked about. Apart from this, they're games that have an M cert on them for a reason. You could explain in depth to your parents about this, thus barring him from playing these games if they understand properly.

Btw, I like Viva Pinata myself and Pokemon too, I'm well out of my teens (just mentioning). Would saying that you know of other girls/women who play fun games with lower ratings sway him?

Just standard gender differences. Nothing more.

You should tell him that not all 17 years old like to play M rated games. And you shold tell him that lots of people older then 17 like Pokémon.

hehehehe,,, I sense a good experiment and/or wager in this :D

switch games for a week, really simple. You play his games only (Halo, CoD etc) and he plays your games only for the entirety of that week... the first ones to go back to his/her games loses.... it could broaden both of your horizons in the end...

I tend to prefer simpler games as well, which may not be rated M.... sometimes, yeah, I want to see blood, but most M rated games today seem to be the same with their awesome graphics... but they often lack in gameplay...

also... you have the upper hand in that one, as he has to miss out on his online friends :) it's win/win.
