I'm a sixteen year old aspie, and I'm starting to become afraid of my parents. Whenever I do poorly or procastinate on something, like homework, they raise their voices at me, telling me how lazy I am. One time, my mother said she would start treating me like "a piece of s**t" if I don't do what I'm told. Whenever I get upset and start crying, my dad would tell me to stop, that I'm being a baby or a wimp. Whenever my dad quotes me, he uses a mocking, low-pitched tone, with undertones of disgust. Whenever I don't do something right, they frown; this one time, I was trying to get in the truck with my dad so I can get to school. It was pouring down. As I was seated, my door was open, and I was trying to get the umbrella in, desperately. My dad said, "You can't be that bad!" Bad as in stupid.

When I was put in a psychiatric ward for trying to kill myself last year, my dad showed no emotion. My mom was sobbing, but something wasn't right; her mannerisms, tone of voice, sounded like it was carefully rehearsed. They seem to exploit my intelligence, asking me obvious questions (to me, at least) with easy answers. Dad has a habit of poking me in my stomach with his forefinger.8O They won't tolerate failure, like I said before. It seems I can't live up to their expectations. I half a half-brother in the military; Dad pushed the s**t out him. :rambo:

My dad seems to have narcissistic or antisocial traits, too. I think my mother was a hardcore drinker, too, because I remember seeing her drunk when I was little. She was annoyed by me sometimes.

That is very psychologically abusive. The authorities can't do anything about it but a psychologist might help you get through it. It sounds like you might have to settle for a school counselor. :(

My psychiatrists say they're trying to show love. Can you believe that?

Yes, seems abusive. I don't know how the law or authorities work where you live, but at least do some research/or ask a responsible adult (like school counselor or nurse) what your options are.

If that's the truth they are doing such a poor job with it it's abuse anyway.
What the parents are trying to do are secondary to what is happening. Neglect and unfit parenting are good enough reason to take away a kid if it's bad enough.

But I can't rat on them. I love them, and they can be pretty humane. It's just that I've been undergoing a lot of school stress.

Their behaviour seems abusive. Have you said the exact things you've said here to your psychiatrists?

It's not ratting on them. You have legitimate needs. If they are feeding you, getting you medical care, sending you to school, and not beating you, the authorities won't bother with you. A school counselor might be able to help.

I started doing things MY way, if they
said stupid krap at me, I'd say it back
to them to return the favour.

Perhaps you would have gotten a different answer if you had. I hope things get better for you.

If I can think of anything that can help I'll post it.

From what I've read, it is abuse.

That is definitely abuse. I agree that you need to be more specific with your psychiatrists about what's going on. If they STILL think that is "trying to show love," then you need to fire them and look elsewhere.

A school counselor might help, but I can't be sure--there are good ones, bad ones and ones who mean well but are utter morons.

I hope things get better. You should not be treated this way. Take care.
