So my next door neighbor blatantly insults me the other day. She knows she did so. The next few days she is being outwardly nice to me thinking that is making up for it.

I have seen this before.

Are these people mentally ill thinking I would overlook her insulting me since she is now being nice to me?

They can't be this dumb. Most of them have to be sociopaths.

No.
What is normal can never be abnormal.
Neurotypicals can by definition not be mentally ill.
But some people are very illogical, yes.

Most neurotypicals are not mentally ill. Yet, there are certainly a great number who can be insensitive and rude.

Um... lunar cycle... hormones... dot at the end of this sentence.

Some of the young ladies have a really awfully miserable hard time because of it.

My grandfather probably says it best. "Guilt is like a seed keep it buried long enough it'll grow".

I don't think that's the case, at all. Normal people are "too perfect".

Neurotypicals, by definition, cannot be mentally ill. An illness is not typical.

I'll bet she brooded over that remark for the rest of the day, and perhaps maybe was too proud too apologizes outright. (many people are) So she tried to make up for it by resolving to be extra nice. It didn't fix the offense, but I think she was trying.

I disagree...I believe that one can be Neurotypical and have a mental illness...but it depends upon ones definition of "Neurotypical"
I have taken Neruotypical to mean "not autistic"...By that definition, I have known people with Borderline Personality Disorder and some Bi-Polar types who did not have traits distinctly associated with the autistic spectrum.

I can relate to the sentiment. NTs are very irrational in their behavior. They get even more irrational around us.

They can't read us. They don't realize how we don't read them so well, and they escalate and feel silly about it. Then they decide we are arrogant and condescending.

They can't be mentally ill by definition, but I certainly am glad I am not an NT, I think it would be very frightening to be so dominated by wild emotions. As high as my emotional highs have been, and as low as the lows, for an NT they are greater. I view NTs pretty much the same way NTs view the severely bipolar. They probably see me the way the severely bipolar see them. It is all perspective.

Sure
I knew NT who have stole from me and still considerd themseves to be my best friends
NT who abused the hell out of me and were sure they love me
NT is a serious mental disease
no memory
no logic
no self identity
no integrity
total unawareness and insensitivity to the existence of the other
The good news is it's a life form on the decline
collapsing under there inner inconsistencies they soon to be vanish from the face of the earth and exist only as some painful nightmarish past that soon to be forgotten

I don't understand the logic that someone that is neurotypical can not be mentally ill. Neurotypical can be a subjective definition of someone. Maybe all neurotypical people are all unbelievably illogical and be mentally ill.

Normality is relative- Take a child out of a war zone, that child will exhibit what seem like odd behaviors. They might be withdrawn, refuse to talk loudly in certain places, not walk down streets in line of fire of " potential snipers, avoid areas where there might be roadside bombs, steal stuff from the trash that might be useful and hoard it, etc. If you didn't know that child's history and background, you would say it was behaving oddly.

If you place an NT in a AS meeting, that NT's social skills might not be at a premium.

If you place an AS in the social reality that is a big ongoing NT meeting, then in social terms
our skills are not the premium.

Technically they are not mad, or mentally ill . Delude-able, irrational, infected with individual beliefs, tributaries of which that can combine and conflate ending in destructive mass behavior etc. They are the majority, and that is a big problem for them.

No but they're bloody illogical. I've had a few people do similar things to me. I really don't get it.

No more than any other group. The only thing you can ascribe to Neurotypicals is that they are not Autistic.
