Does anybody have any tips on how to deal with it?

I have real trouble with it. Someone suggested I say, for instance, " I'm putting the keys on the table" out loud so it will stick in my mind but of course I forget to try that. The problem is always having your mind on other things and I don't know how not to do that. :?

Well, there doesn't seem to be any quick, easy solution to the problem. Everyone tells me to write htings down, but then I forget where I wrote it down...and yeah.

At the moment, I should be doing my labs for tomorrow, and if I don't do them, then I won't graduate on time. So sometimes, it's a combination of absent mindedness and not giving a shi...p...Jack Sparrow.

I have this problem too!!

Here's how i deal with it:

-I go to the store and pick out a really nifty day planner that appeals to me (with tabs for the months/days, a section for phone numbers, email addys, notes etc)
-I also pick out a small notebook
-I use both: I write appointments in the planner, and use the notebook as a "scribbler", that is, I will whip it out and turn to the newest page, write the date at the top and make "to do" notes. I do this at work and in my own life. Each day I can look at the notes and it reminds me what I need to do.

This technique was developed during my hospital intership in grad school - when I could not count on my memory to keep track of all patient meetings, rounds and other appointments.

keep important things (keys, wallet) in a designated spot and put them there immediately when you arrive home.
do things (or write them down) when you think of them, immediately.

accommodate bad short term memory instead of beating yourself up about it.

i rely heavily on iphone notes app.
