is a family member and you call them and ask for help b/c you have a child in the hospital and not only do they not
help you they never call you back or acknowledge it? My son is still very ill and is home from the hospital but sick and I have to deal with his baby sister and I'm really pissed at this "relative" she's the only "family" we have for a thousand miles would it have killed her to call and say "sorry your kid was hospitalized" she has no decency and she never liked me growing up b/c "I'm cold and uncaring plus I have no empathy"

umm yeah I called when she had her surgery and asked "is there anything you need"

WHO IS THE UNCARING ONE?

Oh crap! I have three kids, and if it's infectious, unfortunately that's the usual course of things.

Good luck to you... 8O

my dear relative still has not called........does she even care I HIGHLY doubt it. My son has autism and daughter has SPD/AS and SPD. Both are in diapers my son is 4 and my daughter is 2. I could have USED SOME HELP....but no not even a call to check we've been here nearly 3 months and all I want is to go home where I have help, support but guess what if we do daughter gets ZERO Early Intervention and son no longer gets therapy and we all get crummy medical care.

So we are STUCK

Oh man, that sucks. All three of mine have ADHD, the youngest one not as severe as the other two, and the middle child likely has AS (going through the process of diagnosis now). I hear you about the family support thing...my parents are both dead but even when they were alive we weren't close, my brothers are worthless when it comes to that (one of them stole a boatload of money out of an account my mother had...what a mess...long story) and so is my extended family so I'm pretty much on my own. Blah. Hopefully you'll get some relief soon.

I'd call that person "The Wicked Witch of The West or East".

Yep I have a cousin who thinks she's all that because she's married and has kids. You are the caring one and have common sense. People are cruel these days especially family members. It's such a common thing to call up a relative and ask them how their surgery went, or when a child is ill and in hospital to ask if the child is ok. Was this relative a cousin as well?

You were there for your relative when she was sick and now she's not there for you. It doesn't seem fair at all. Least she could do is return your phone call.

I'd like to hear her side of the story. Maybe she has legitimate reasons she cannot help you right now. But even so, she could call and say something like "I'm sorry your children are doing poorly. I can't help right now because of my own issues. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, etc."

Yes it is my cousin.

At a bare minimum she should have called. I would never treat anyone in such a shabby manner especially not a relative....but then I'm the one that lacks empathy.

My son is still on medication and doing better he went to therapy today but he's still dreadfully pale and his sister I'm keeping home and inside so she doesn't get chilled.
