What are the things that make you feel uncomfortable?

What are you looking for in a support group that you feel would be more effective for you than an internet forum?

I guess this forum can't be all things to all people. But since you made the post, I assume you want to start some dialog on this issue.

I was thinking that deeply in my mind that I feel that going to a support group can really beneficial since i get to talk to people with AS. Almost all of my friends and families are NTs and none of them understand me about it. Its like I was born on the Moon but adopted into Earth and have no idea what to do here. Everybody I know in my life are ALWAYS chatty, I feel left out from any conversation because of AS. ironically i can still chat with anybody but still hard for me to chat with anyone. I feel like that I wish for everyone in the whole world should be educated with AS to simply end all of this hurtful info on us then to support a cure. People with AS are people too. Read the 14th amendment, people should not judge people by their mental problems as with race and ethnicity.

sorry for the digression but, I want to go to a support group, the group knows alot more about it then anybody else and talk about my problems more easily then the internet.

That makes sense to me.

I like this forum, but I think a face to face kind of group would be very helpful as well. (Although I suspect I'd be too terrified to show up.)

I think one of the down sides of an internet forum is that communication is slow and erratic. Also a lot of meaning is lost when the things people say must be reduced to text on a screen. And there is something about being in a room with another person whom you have grown comfortable with that is relaxing and reassuring.

I often feel that much of my communication on the internet is in one direction. I blather on a lot, but I don't necessarily feel like I am in a two way conversation. This isn't as fulfilling as a face to face conversation where you get more feedback that indicates someone has heard you.

Do you know of any AS groups in your area?
