For example the at times depressing over not having a boyfriend or friends you toss yourself into your interest. It helps you cope with not haivng relationships? It does for me. :-)

Helps me quite a bit.

I think I would still be depressed from a recent breakup, had I not dove into play instruments to take my mind off it. Mind you, I still feel a bit depressed about it, but I've moved quite a bit forward by doing it.

Yes, my special interests are my escape. Whenever I have issues with relationships, whether it be with family or friends or the fact that I've never had a boyfriend, I bury myself deep into my interests and they always help me to feel a little bit better.

I like to learn new things every day..its sort of a chronic interest for me. Hence i'm on the internet a lot.

Its helped in many ways... saving money, new places to visit or where to eat..things to do (cause damn I get bored!).

... and Zelda we have that issue in common. Come to Orlando some day... it could be a mutual solution ;) *grin*

I find myself getting more absorbed into my interests when I have nothing else better in my life or when I am depressed. My obsessions are just there to pass time and now I am too busy.

I have been using the internet less also. Well that's what I wanted anyway because I felt it was taking up my time and I wanted to do other things but was too stuck online to even get off.

As a distraction and as tools.

No. Nothing really does.
