There is none, obviously.

I know that everyone has their own purpose in life. But i dont.

I'm surrounded by idiots who lack the inteligence to realise people have two arms. I'm not even joking about that. I recently (well, today) fractured a bone in my elbow, and as such was in hospital. Some little twat questioned the fact of my fractured elbow by saying "it isnt fractured cos your typing". i'm right handed, it's my left elbow. Even then i can type with both. I mean, how thick can you be?

But it's people like this that make my life crap. They don't seem to understand the fact that some of us would rather have a decent paying job than be unemployed and live on benifiets.

I know this is a generalisation, but people like that should be executed. horribly.

can you tell i'm pissed off?

The meaning of life to me is to find inner peace, be kind and respectful towards everything, seek to expand knowledge and be true to myself no matter that.

Not that i do this perfectly, but it is what i believe in.

I don't get it. What is the meaning of 42? :?

To the OP, life is like a big school that we signed on for, with a curriculum that is hidden. We go through it as best we can, gaining knowledge, hopefully learning to be tolerant of those who are not as intelligent, etc. I, too, find it difficult to suffer fools, but we only stress ourselves by getting upset with them. They, on the other hand, don't think there is anything wrong. 8) If you are smart, you cannot understand stupidity. If you are stupid, you cannot understand intelligence. And so it goes... :)

From Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, this was the answer given to the universal question. Famously, he never told the public what he meant by "42." My ex-husband heard that it refers to the number of days between childbirth and the time the OB/Gyn says it's okay to resume sexual intercourse (6 weeks), but I'm dubious.

Emlion you beat me to it

hartzofspace, it's from the book by Douglas Adams, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

KillerBunny123 I know I know I know, ...and only too well, what you mean and what you are going through there. People are illogical, irrational, jump to conclusions and make assumptions without bothering to make sure they're facts are correct and it so naffs me off sometimes. I injure myself and they don't believe me because I'm laughing, laughed at because I have AS, and all sorts of other things.

There is a way to finding peace, and part of that is accepting who you are and the many gifts that you have. Your purpose in life is to live, as honourably as you can. Beyond that you'll only find out as you grow older.

(Personally, I just think people should be punished by making them wish they were dead, than by actually killing them :D )

Meaning? Its not even really happening. What could an immortal consciousness hope to practically accomplish by entrapping itself in a world of three-dimensional shells and stifling limitations?

That's like asking a child 'What is the meaning of the playground?' Its a playground, silly. There's no meaning. Stop taking it so seriously and enjoy yourself. It'll be over before you know it.

I say the meaning of life is to find meaning in life.

I don't know the meaning of life but, I wouldn't mind playing a game of 42. No seriouly though, I was thinking of this very same question this morning and, how funny that it appeared on here. When you find out the answer, let me know.

I was obsessed with the book when I was younger, and I'm pretty sure that I remember him saying that it was just the most unusual number he could think of. Icould be wrong though.

There is no meaning of life.

I have reasoned that life is part of (flawed) evolution's attempts to create perfection, which is almost certainly impossible.

For all intents and purposes, however, you might as well come up with your own purpose, for example, I have decided I would like to become wholly and utterly independent and self-sustaining, without the help of society.
