Why? Praying will not make any difference whatsoever. Praying is useless.

I have a better idea. How about you open a PayPal account, and then we will all send you a few dollars each. With the money you receive, you can purchase a whole bunch of really nice flowers (or some other gift) to give to this person.

Obviously this still will not have any effect on the cancer, but it is a nice thing to do and the person will probably enjoy it, and it gives them something that is actually tangible.

Go and have a w*k, you miserable, worthless little oink.

jaguars_fan: I wouldn't say I'm a religious person, but I'll be thinking of you.

I apologize for my generosity in offering to contribute to a gift for this person.

Are you unwilling to contribute a few dollars towards a gift?

According to the stats, there are nearly 5000 members. If 20 people here contributed just 4 dollars each, that would be $80 for a gift. That should be a decent gift.

Jaguar_fan:

I am sorry to hear about your Grandads cancer. You will be in my prayers. I will think of you. I know that it is hard as my Grandad died of cancer. It will be hard work but I will pray for you and I hope that everything is ok.

Emp:

Praying does help. It offers hope to those that the prayer is for. If you do not like this idea then why post. This forum is where to come if you are feeling low and need advice. It is not a place where you come to have you're ideas slagged of by other users. Jaguar has asked for help and I think we should group together and pray for him in his time of need.

hyper_alien -- I will ask you the same question. Are you unwilling to contribute a few dollars towards a gift?

I am only talking about 3 or 4 dollars per person. That is all. Literally pocket change. You cannot afford just three dollars???

I think warm thoughts and yes, even prayer for those who believe, would be more appropriate than money and material gifts in this situation. If you really wanted to split the difference, maybe a "Best Wishes" card could make a nice choice.

You will be in my prayers.

I do not think this is the place to talk about money in reply to this very first post.
There are more important things in life than money I think.

You misunderstood. My suggestion was not about giving money to the person. It was about doing something actually meaningful and tangible.

Unless the person has psychic mind-reading powers, he will not be aware of these thoughts of yours, and thus they will have absolutely no effect on him whatsoever. Pointless.

You people in this thread, you are being SELFISH. Warm thoughts and prayers within your mind only make YOU feel good. They do NOTHING for this man with cancer. You are basically using his misfortune to make yourself feel good by deluding yourself into thinking that you are doing something nice for someone. You are not really doing anything nice at all.

Selfish people who are so cheap that they are not even willing to part with a few dollars in order to REALLY do something nice for this man. I am disgusted with you people.

There is no humanity being displayed by people here, only a pretense of humanity. Shallow people who enjoy the feeling of pretending to do something nice for someone.

I am sending my version of prayer right now. I don't know what I believe, but I'm sending it anyway.
