I really can't see the point in being alive any-more, I'm 28 have no job and probably never will, I still live at home. I have no friends, the only people who come close only want to hang out if I have money to lend them/buy them a drink or 2 or give them fags, yet never reciprocate. My mum has ME and if it wasn't for having to look after her on her bad days I'd probably be dead by now. She hasn't had one in over a year now and all I can think of lately is that there's no point in me being here, so seriously what's the point in staying alive?

Please see a doctor about the suicidal feelings. Trite but necessary for me to say I feel. You have every reason to live but if you're depressed it's hard to see them.

Second: nothing wrong with living at home and not having a job. If you want a job, it is possible for you to have one in the future.

What is past is prologue! Zadie Smith put that at the beginning of her book White Teeth. Anything can happen in the future. What's happened already is just the part before the story even begins.

You must be very loyal and kind and attentive to take such good care of your mother. I'm sorry you have such thankless friends at the moment - there are people who'll appreciate you way more.

What are you interested in doing, either work- or otherwise? What are your aspirations?

Thanks, I have been about being depressed and he put it down to stress. I'll try to make another appointment to try and see if they can help somehow though.

I don't really have an answer to that. I've put my life on hold for so long so I can be here to look after mum that I have no clue what I want to do for work any-more. As for my aspirations, I don't have any :(

The only things I do nowadays are sit in the garden or play runescape, unless I meet up with my "friends" in which case I go to the pub so I can drown my sorrows for awhile.

Good that you'll make another appointment. Maybe you should ask to be referred to a psychiatrist - I've noticed general practitioners are generally not too interested in anything but the basic mechanical workings of the human body. Not great for mental health concerns, in other words.

I looked up RuneScape and it looks really appealling. If you are interested in that, maybe you would be interested in creating your own fantasy world of some sort (novel/graphic novel/movie/boardgame/trading card game/etc.)? Obviously that's lower-tech than RuneScape but it would be a start. Also it seems like things like mazes might appeal to you (they appeal to me). I've thought about ways I might build a maze for people to walk through. There's a place called Longwood Gardens in the state of Pennsylvania near where I live that has a botanical maze for kids to walk through and I grew up loving it. Do you know how to build structures out of any material? Or would you want to? Just some ideas.

Oh, another idea - building a miniature land out of Legos or something similar. I'm not sure how that would translate to immediate money but it's something to think about. Maybe I'm projecting my own interests onto you, and if so, I'm sorry, but it seems like games like Runescape have something in common with this stuff.

I second that about asking for a referral from your GP. The GP is, essentially, the gateway to the rest of the health service, and getting to see the right people will help you immensely.
