I asked my mother not to tell my grandparents about how I screwed up at the very end of the semester. She, of course, did the very opposite and had my grandfather down here yelling me awake this morning. Asking me why I did not do my work. I told him that I did, of course. This made me a liar. People as intelligent as I am don't fail when they do their work (bear in mind that HE says that I am intelligent. I feel that I am rather stupid the vast majority of the time). So he lectured for two hours asking me questions to which I had no answers. Got angry with me for giving "short answers" (read: "I don't know."), compared me to my successful, slightly older cousin, etc. My mother smiled and nodded in agreement behind him. Made comments. Agreed that I clearly had not done the work. Told me that I must not have cared that much. I became angry and said "I did my work. You are the one that didn't do you work. All you did was play CafeWorld and call your teacher and give them excuses so that they would extend your time on papers. You KNOW that I work because I am always complaining to you about the kids running in here while I am busy and banging the door on (my sister's) desk!" It was a disrespectful thing to say. I know this. I should not have done that. So then she told my grandfather "This is what I am talking about." and (to me) "Well if they bother you so much maybe you should move out. I have to do my work with them bothering me to. It doesn't stop me from getting it done." The subject briefly changed from me being too lazy to do my work to how disrespectful I am and how I either need to learn to respect my mother or move out.
It turns out that I did not fail all of my classes. Well, I did, but not because of doing poorly. The online site that we use to submit our work is finally back up (down for maintenance) and I looked at my grades...lo and behold blanks. Everywhere. Not 0s. Not low Ds. BLANKS. On assignments that I completed and submitted. Everywhere -- of 100, -- of 150. And I remember doing these assignments. One class (the one with the most blanks) still has my points at the top. 726 out of 815 possible points. Now...correct me if I am wrong, but that is a B. A VERY FREAKING HIGH B. An 89. But it says that I failed. One class has NO grades for me. None. Allow me this one chance to say that I told them so. I have called the school and left messages. The semester is over...no one seems to be around. I am not sure what can be done at this point. Any and all advice appreciated.

Well first of all, your mother sounds like a piece of garbage...edit. You give respect to get respect, and that goes both ways, not just one. As for what to do, I suppose the only thing you can do is wait if nobody is around. If there is some way you can get back to the school and ask around, that would be good, or maybe you have done that and nobody was around.

First off, your family sounds like mine...yeesh! I moved out as soon as I could possibly do so. Secondly, it sounds like whoever is supposed to have put your grades in has not completed doing so for some reason. It's possible that people may be out for a week or two following finals, but may come back prior to the summer semester to start preparing. Keep trying to call them, because (1) you may not have done as badly as you think and (2) for those classes where you may have done poorly due to not getting things in because of the reasons you mentioned, I still recommend you contact your advisor, the administration, and your school psychological services to see if you can get some consideration for your extenuating circumstances. You probably can prove that your electricity was out on the days it was, and you can talk to psych. services about the robbery and what happened afterwards which also interfered with getting things completed on time. Don't bother to listen to the negativity. It will only slow you down in getting done what you need to get done. Focus on fixing this, not on their BS. Any supportive documentation you can get will be helpful, as these are paper-pushers at heart. When it's all said and done, you can say I told you so to those giving you a hard time, but try to ignore them for the moment.
Good luck to you
~Kate (so glad those days are behind me)
