I maintained A's and high B's all semester only to fail at the very f--king end. I hate myself. I don't know what to do. I have ruined everything. I am in college on Pell Grant...now that I have f--ked everything up I will lose that and I cannot afford to pay. I'm going to get kicked out of my home because I am only allowed to stay here as long as I am in school. At the risk of being repetitive, I f--king HATE myself. Who flunks everything during the last two weeks?! I do, apparently.

So what happened, Black Cat? You were doing great, then you messed up on your finals? The month of May is stressful, indeed.

A while back, I also lost financial aid for failing my finals at the last moment, after working very hard to keep a B average all semester.

I'm sorry to hear that, I did the same thing not once but twice in college. I know how much it hurts but there are ways to get through this in one piece. Have you looked at the options? Is it a total fail or just one course? Have you asked for special consideration given your diagnosis? have you discussed options with your teachers? Is there a way to 'make up' the class(es) in the summer semester or were you booked for that already?

There has to be a silver lining on this cloud. Maybe just take the rest of the Pell Grant and go buy a whole bunch of lottery tickets? Just kidding.

I'm currently studying for my final year at uni/college on a scholarship. I'm finding studying for my final year very stressful and I want to rip all of my hair out :( I think I'm in a similar boat as you, I have zero money and I'm living at my boyfriend's house with his evil mum. She is always looking for ways to kick me out, the reason why the rest of my boyfriend's family hasn't kicked me out is because I'm studying for my final year. *hugs blackcat*

Well I went to college for a year and then my second year I quit going to class in the first semester because I was having some issues.....so they revoked the financial aid and such for the second semester and I spent over 6 months attempting to look into options besides college and when I did not find work or anything I enrolled in a community college and still got financial aid and all that.

So yeah you might have to wait a while to enroll into a college again, but as far as I know its not like you can never get loans/grants for college again because you messed up one semester.

^^^--- This. I went to college four times, and I messed up one semester each of the first two times, and yet was still able to get financial aid twice more. The only thing that actually interfered with my ability to get financial aid was being unable to go back to college before my grace period ran out and then not being able to pay my student loans because of terminal unemployment.

Completely blowing every class in a semester, though? Recoverable. The only problem here I found was that I could not attend the same school again and get financial aid without proving that I could perform well academically despite earlier problems.

I hope things don't turn out badly for you because of this, Blackcat. It does sound like your mother has literally zero sympathy for your problems, which is not helpful at all.

What I would suggest is seeing if you can discuss the matter with anyone at the college - financial aid advisor, counselor, anyone. You probably have options here, you just have to investigate them.

If you have extenuating circumstances, sometimes the school will work with you.

If you've had some type of personal problems of a non-physical nature, you should first consult with your school's psychological services department. If it's of a physical nature, get a doctor's note and consult with the students with disabilities office.

One or the other should be able to help you speak to an academic counselor and a financial aid counselor. I kind of get the feeling you're not going to lose your grant though.

Sorry to hear about that. Finals can sometimes be wicked in some classes.

But, your financial aid situation is not as bad as you might think. You can still apply for financial aid and get something like a Stanford subsidized loan, I believe. The first time you mess up, they put you onto "probation status" where you can still get financial aid and then the second mess up results in "suspension".

Failing that, there's the possibility of going to another college and applying for financial aid through their system where your grades at your current college don't matter. This option might make sense if you're simply completing community college classes to transfer to a four year university, and that's assuming you have another community college in your locale.

I was doing great but not getting to my first period class on time because of transportation issues and doing extra work and having panic attacks. Then I got robbed on campus and lost all of my work and kind of...shut down for a week. Then I got sick. Then tornadoes killed the power and the internet during finals week and I got nothing done because we could not go somewhere else and the school was closed and...we got no make up time for that. Apparently everyone else was able to turn their work in at the appropriate time. I guess we are the only ones that were without electricity for that period of time. I had write two papers and take my final in 2 hours. I wrote the papers and did well. I bombed the final (another writing assignment.) And that was only English...

I have no options. I failed everything. No, because I have no diagnosis other than the Panic Disorder and no one gives a damn about that. Why should they? No, the teachers are gone. I am not allowed to attend during the summer because I failed.

I am sorry that you are going through that. I hope that things improve for you very quickly.

And you too, dunbots and SyphonFilter. It is beyond frustrating to see all of your hard work come to naught.

Okay, you DEFINITELY have some extenuating circumstances here. You were ROBBED for pete's sake. You need to get yourself to your school's psychological services and your advisor (and possibly the dean) and explain that and the illness part, as well as the fact you were without electricity and access to alternative methods of completing your work. With those circumstances you should be able to get some consideration unless BOTH your psychological services department is incompetent and your administration is full of as*holes. I once had a problem with failing an exam due to a seizure exacerbation and that's what I did. I got a letter from my doctor and went to my professor and when he was a dick I went to my advisor who advocated for me with the dean and the head of the department that was giving me trouble. I ended up getting a B in the course when all was said and done. It was a major pain in the ass but well worth it.

Wow, I know I'm not much use, but I have (virtual) hugs and (virtual) hot chocolate if you want comfort. :)
