First, it spends 10 minutes trying to load the page, then times out! I've spent 45 minutes already, and I haven't registered for a single class. The last thing I want is to have to try to reorganize my schedule for the fall in this flustered state of mind!

I sure hope that it's just that the server sucks and not a bunch of other people taking the specific classes and times that I need.

Still waiting, but at least I'm in and can see there aren't that many people registered.

Why the heck wouldn't the IT guys add more capacity on the morning registration opens? Is it really so expensive or difficult? I don't know a thing about servers.

Edit: 10:15 Do servers respond better if you talk to them like a cat or like a dog? [/whimsy]

10:23 Continue to wait or reload???

10:50 Still not sure if I've registered for even one class...

I think a lot of it is layers of complexity, including the security features. Each change they make, makes the whole thing more complex!

After two hours of frustration, I went out to the college building.

The two hours I spent waiting there, I put to good use. My therapist had suggested that I try to meet one new person, and see if I could get them to talk to me about what they're interested in and listen carefully as an exercise. I've done it before, of course, but he wanted me to try it with full intention and attention, so I took the opportunity and had a long conversation with the person next to me in line. Actually, the first people in line next to me didn't want to talk, and I took the hint and didn't force the issue!! ! It turned out they were in the wrong line, though, and I had better luck with the next one. Eventually, the person on the other side of me joined in, and I tried to let them lead the conversation as much as they were willing to. It was actually fun, even though I don't really care about their specific areas of interest. I think they both kind of like me, and I feel better (less anxious) about this fall.

Anyway, I got all the classes I wanted and I got them at the times I wanted, too. 8)
