My parents namely my dad are completely and utterly uptight ****ing morons!! ! Why the GD Hell is it such a big deal if I buy microsoft points for DlC (Downloadable Content ) I have tried desperately to convince them that the content that I buy for games is not "A waste of money" and does in fact have a very real entertainment value and are worth my money that I get to spend. Thats not even the worst part though if I try to discuss it with them they call me: "stupid" or, "incompetent" and threaten to put in a "Group Home". It is only just this year that my dad came up this rule plucked from thin air practically that spending my money on games was a waste because in their words "You finish the games and then you never play them again". I am 21 years old and they treat me like this. I could really use some advice, please.

If you pay for your own games, I don't see how it's their business what you spend your money on. Unless they want you to put some towards your upkeep at home?

Actually I don't typically buy them retail because it costs $60. I typically get most of games though gamefly. I live in a certifed family home and they are my guardians but it's still kind of frusterating to have this hanging over head. I'm fairly certain however that as my guardians they don't really have any say as to what I can spend but I'm not entirely sure. The way my allowance works I get $100 out of $524 or so from social security checks for free spending and $31.75 of it goes to gamefly. To give a more specific reason as to why I'm upset I typically get to have the luxury of getting out to go and do stuff (they're nice enough to do it and I don't really have to pay for it) however as punishment for Halfth birthday am not getting any more money for spending and won't get to see the movie that I want.

I saw something on the tv today, a guy wanted a drum kit. His parents pointed out all the other fads he has spent money on. He in return pointed to his mums porcelain collection of Dalmatian figureens also his dads fitness equipment in the garage that he never uses, everyone spends money. any help??

You should move out so that the threats don't have a chance to turn into actions.

Thats a pretty good point but because of the guardianship they're legally responible for me. I don't really know where else I could go, and unfortunately don't have the convenience of having any "local" friends who I could stay with at least not in this instance. I'm pretty much stuck where I am damned or otherwise.

That is very helpful thanks. Unfortunately when I try to explain the entertainment value that I got from a good game it just doesn't work. They are completely full of it and from their perspective can't really understand the logic of buying games for entertainment and replayability in the form of achievements, trophies, etc because they don't really play games themselves. I know its pretty painfully ironic right?
