Can Mild Aspergers make good social skills ... but STILL with some social confusions and problems. they can have good social skills if say a 13 year old in Canada got it, and has parents that were medics willing to help u. and that mild asperger who is 13 says he will NOT give up on this. can he make good social skills... but still have some social confusions ? I did not have a problem make friends.. only had a problem with Social Skills. but my parents said I improved alot over the year, and they said my Social Skills were not in the 13 year old range but were close to it, so them saying i did not have poor social skills. And they said if they put a hundred aspies in a room, i would be by the few who only have few problems. so yea, can u make good social skills with soem social confusions still. i am a 13 year old aspie in B.C
You can get better social skills by copying others who already have them. You learn more and more as you get older, untill you can come across as very normal to people who dont know you have aspergers. we can put on a very good act, with practice.
Also I did not have trobule being accepted because I was tall and (handsome)... also thx for responding. but by better, do u mean good? or just they get better, but still not on the normal age scale of social skills?

I mean that you improve through practice. And with lots of practice, you can appear to have the same social skills as others. You must put some effort in and learn. Copy your parents and how they are when meeting someone they know. Watch them smile at the person. Listen to their polite conversation, appearing interested in the person they are talking to. Take notice and try it yourself when you meet someone you know. You will improve more and more as time goes on and with guidance from your parents.

Ok... thanks. My parents said the same thing about not giving up, I will not.
Off topic, I also have ADD.
They are. And I will be taking some meds. And my school will be helping me for about 4 years.

Also if I don't give up ... then aspergers is not that big a deal? Sure it may be an issue, but by not giving up it does not have to be a big deal right? I mean I was FAT, then I lost ALOTTT of weight because I wanted to achieve that. And I will try to do that with social skills.
I have aspergers and I feel priviledged to have it. I feel its a gift. Yes, social skills are sometimes a problem to us, but we are capable of learning them. The gifts we can have with aspergers, is the ability to think beyond the normal thinking in 'normal' people. It helps a lot when you are older and in business. One day, you might become aware of having a different type of thinking to others, and when you do, you will realize just how fortunate you are to have aspergers. here is a list of the types of thoughts I am refering to.....
FOCUSING ON THE POSITIVE:
Focus and diligence – The Asperger ability to focus on tasks for a long period of time without needing supervision or incentive is legendary.
Internal motivation – as opposed to being motivated by praise, money, bills or acceptance. This ensures a job done with conscience, with personal pride.
Independent, unique thinking – people with AS tend to spend a lot of time alone and will likely have developed their own unique thoughts as opposed to a ‘herd’ mentality.
Higher fluid intelligence – scientists in Japan have recently discovered that AS children have a higher fluid intelligence than non-autistic children. Fluid intelligence is "the ability to find meaning in confusion and solve new problems. It is the ability to draw inferences and understand the relationships of various concepts, independent of acquired knowledge.” (Wikipedia 2009) Experts say that those with AS have a higher than average general IQ as well.
Visual, three-dimensional thinking – some with AS are very visual in their thought processes, which lends itself to countless useful and creative applications.
Attention to detail – sometimes with painstaking perfection.
Honesty – the value of being able to say “the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes.”
Logic over emotion – although people with AS are very emotional at times, we spend so much time ‘computing’ in our minds that we get quite good at it. We can be very logical in our approach to problem-solving.

I understand I will always have different thinking ways. my smart ness in IQ is average, got checked. I mean aspergers does not have to be a big deal, their are worse social issues out there like autism and such. I am proud of who I am ! Everyone has something they have to carry on for all their lives, and mine is aspergers. I know I will improve on social skills, but I know I will be different cuz I will always think different, but I have to try to understand other first.
Agreed?
