...just to get away from my family? Well actually just my parents.

The college I applied to is Scenic View Academy and it's a college for people with Autism and Learning Differences. It's in Utah.

I'm just so sick of arguing with my parents about everything. I'm sick of them making it seem like I can't do anything right. I'm sick of feeling unwelcome, like they don't want me in their lives anymore. I'm sick of constantly being made to feel like the bad guy, like everything is my fault. And I'm sick of feeling so angry all the time. I just want to feel happy.

So out of desperation I applied to college in another state. In all honesty I'm not sure I will get in, but it's worth a shot. But if I don't get in that means I am stuck here for another 6-8 months, if not longer.

So I'm wondering, is it wrong that I applied to this college just so I can get away from my parents?

And I'm sorry for not being more active here. I try but most days I feel too angry/upset to be useful.

I don't think so. Good luck with your application. :)

No. Lots of young people move away from their parents/family because they feel like they can have a better life on their own. Especially if you're going to college, I think it's a good thing. Good luck with it :D

I think that's a pretty standard reason for applying to college. :) Sounds like a good move for you. Good luck with it.

Of course not. Many people go to college to get away from their parents.

You should make sure the one you applied to is accredited however.

No. If anything, you've made a right choice.

That's why everyone goes to college these days :) Otherwise, you would see a lot more studying and a lot less partying. Ever wonder why everybody is on the 5-6 year plan now?

Accredited by who?

And Ravenclawgurl, they have the females live in housing near campus. As I am female and would be living off campus I am going to ask about that. I am hoping it is housing owned by them as (if I do get in) it will be one less thing to worry about. Moving to another state is stressful enough without the added stress of looking for an apartment.

I have to chuckle at that one. Most young people go to far away colleges for that reason. I kind of wish I did the same. I only attend University about 2 hours away from my parents. They come for impromptu visits.

It is definitely not wrong but is it wise? That depends. If you are going to spend a fortune or be in a lot of debt going to this school without any job prospects after earning a degree, it isn't wise. What are you majoring in?

If you're still planning on doing the work, the primary motivators aren't a major deal as long as they do motivate you. Not many people go to college for altruistic "for the pursuit of knowledge" reasons

Applying to college in another state vs your own state? No it's not wrong.
Applying to college just to get away? Of course it's wrong and a waste of money. Don't be a coward and tell them you want to live away if that's what you want, why use college for an excuse unless you just want them to pay for your lies.
