This thread might be off topic, but I wanted to put it here since I thought it was a good idea. People who commonly visit this forum to respond/help people should introduce themselves and give a short summary of themselves in this thread.

Hopefully, people and visitors can see that everyone has their share of difficulties in life and they are not alone.

I decided to stop posting in the "Philosophy/Politics/Religion/" forum endlessly debating and invest that extra energy here. I have helped people in the past in this forum, but I want to do it more often.

Past Struggles/Difficulties: I have high functioning autism, transgenderism, and sensory processing disorder. I have divorced parents. I used to live with a bipolar dad who refused to take medication. I was bullied and harassed as a student. I used to be obese. I was a loner without a single friend from 1st grade to the start of 12th grade.

Situation Now: Now, I am chubby and have lost over forty pounds. Going for my third year of college in about two weeks. I am an accepted transgender, and I feel comfortable in my skin. I have many caring friends involved in my life. My social skills have improved. I have to live with my father during school breaks, but I am saving up to move out full time. My life has improved a lot. So it does get better.

Was that supposed be sarcastic? I cannot tell.

This thread is supposed to be for people to post their past challenges and how they overcame those challenges. I want this thread to be a reason for other people to be hopeful that a similar challenge they are facing can be overcome.

Given some of this users posts i am inclined to say that she is being sarcastic. Any way, good idea for a thread.

I think it's a great idea :)

I've been through a lot and am still going through a lot - take a look at some of my first ever posts and you may find a long message about my past.
One thing I'll say right here and right now - No matter how bleak things look, they can flip over very quickly, they have for me.

I'm not gonna be around here for much longer, but I am inclined to help while I'm here :P

A veritable dinosaur has stumbled on this
and responds - for what it is worth.
I am much older and maybe, only maybe, a bit wiser.
1 self medicating with drugs and alcohol seemed like the answer for me but it really kicked my butt
2 Anger was something I used a lot like a drug. It too made things worse
3 Becoming comfortable with who you are was easier said than done but it
really was the answer.

Good luck
