[INCOMING WALL OF TEXT!]
No way I'm getting back to sleep now...And for the first time in a while I genuinely feel too scared to sit at home awake with no-one to talk too...If you don't wanna read over some disturbing stuff, don't bother reading, but it'll probably seem less so to you without seeing and hearing it for yourself. If you find the content of this thread too much, don't say I didn't warn you, but I won't be able to sleep unless I tell this to someone. I guess I'm kind of selfish forcing this on you guys. This is mostly just a description of the monster my mind decided to make up for me.

When I'm awake at night, I drift into this barely conscious mode where I create...worlds in my head. Sometimes I drift off very shortly after doing so and dream about them. This last one sort of came after just finishing the game "Earthbound" for myself, which at the end was...mildly disturbing for me. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it doesn't matter, but sometimes when I read, play or watch something fictional, it prompts me to think up something else when I'm laying in bed trying to sleep.

The world I thought up and drifted off too was...Well...Imagine all things have a life force. Then imagine we invented technology to extract said life force into other beings. So scientists come along and begin experimenting with humans to create some kind of super human weapon. The technology has severe side effects; it causes extreme mutations, things like loss and growth of limbs or rotting of live skin, swollen bones (not medically correct, but it's what it did in this little world) resulting in things that no longer looked human. This is the part that got me most. In my dream I was in what looked like a lab where this testing happened. There were mauled bodies of what looked like scientists all over the place. Only some sort of dim red emergency lights were left on, so everything was lit up in red. In some corner somewhere in this place, I saw something alive which turned to look at me. It's face was mostly disfigured; the left side of it's jaw protruded out about 40cm from it's face. It's skin was pale white, even in the dim red light, it's skin was whiter than anything I've seen living, and what was left of it sagged, like you'd imagine a 150 year old to look like. What little of it's hair was left was in two tiny hair bands, you could tell that before it turned into that, it had pigtails and was a young girl. But the worst thing about it was it's huge smile; the protruding jaw made it's face locked in a permanent smile, revealing hugely overgrown, chipped teeth. It's clothes were ripped but you could tell they were children's. What looked like a tiny, fleshy third arm, about as thick as a large twig, protruded from it's right ribcage. It was hooked up to a mobile life support unit, and had stabiliser wheels attached to it's thin fleshy legs I presume to help it stand upright. I can only assume it was to deformed to live without it's life support unit.

It turned at me and looked me in the eyes for a few seconds before charging at me, grunting but still stuck with that huge freaky smile. I remember that, I black out, and I see bodies of similar things, all over the place.

The rest of the dream didn't quite freak me out so much, still just as screwed up, but not quite as frightening for me. It sort of continued in a story format, but It would take until morning to write the whole thing (it's 4:32 now.)

I hate these dreams. All of the dreams I have are super realistic, but this just takes that cake. I'm pretty sure if I included something like this in a game I made, it would be deemed unplayable even for adults.

If you did actually bother to read all that...well...thanks I guess...and sorry.

I think up worlds as i drift off to sleep as well.

Sorry about your nightmare. I have a lot of them. Mostly my teeth fall out or crumble into dust.

I know how you feel bro. I have bad dreams that level of f##ked upness and more. I've had one where I looked into a mirror, my own face was that distorted, then I was pulled in and ripped to shreads by the creature I saw
I can't help but feel that was the dark side of my subconcious. I don't think I've ever seen anything more frightening.

From what I hear a lot of people have that one. I don't know if dreams like that actually mean anything though.

Yeah, knowing that dreams like that are a still product of your mind is kind of...unsettling. I guess you just base everything on your dreams with stuff you seen or thought about before, kind of like a kid subconsciously playing with lego blocks. He might make something bad or good. That's how I see it.

Not feeling quite so bad now it's morning.

Interesting dream. Sci fi dreams are pretty weird...had one myself not too long ago & woke up relieved that it was just a dream...not my reality. Parts of your dream remind me of Total Recall....the mutant part anyway. I've thought about turning my dream into a book, but I need more details than just one particular instance. And yeah they can be pretty disturbing. Don't have anything really helpful to say other than some people just have really awful dreams. Sorry that you found this one upsetting. I probably would too. Maybe you can turn it into a book or a game or something. You could even tone down the gruesomeness, if you think it's too over the top.

I've had others involving being personally attacked by a guy with a knife who was trying to rape me, & multiple other dreams involving knives & murder. Why knives? This has been an ongoing theme since I was a little girl. I hate them too. I always wake up in a panic because of how realistic they are.

I sometimes have this recurring dream that lasts for about two seconds. Everything is pitch black and then I see and feel some kind of blade pierce out of my chest...those freak my out, so I can kind of understand the knife thing.

And as for turning my dreams into some kind of art form, I've thought about that before. It's just that most of my dreams would work better as games, and it takes a good few years for most people to learn even how to make 16 bit games, like super nes standard. I'd like to, but I don't know if I could stick to learning about it. Maybe I'm better off just leaving my dreams alone. Nice to have someone to talk to about it though. Thanks :)
