I'm a workhorse by nature. I get a job, I do it, I do it well. All through college, I assumed that was what employers would want, since they're hiring me to, well, work.

Well, evidently not! It's been four months out on the job market, and I can't find anything! And all the advice that I read online says that all the HR departments and hiring managers look for everything I'm not. They want someone who'll essentially lie during the interviews (not that I'm even getting that far). They want someone who'll gladhand with everyone. They want someone who'll brag about everything they've done. I just wanna do my research! I should've just gone to grad school.

And if I hear one more goddamn word about how bad the economy is, I'm going to snap. I can't do anything about the goddamn economy, so stop yapping about it!! It's just making me even more of a wreck than I already am.

I'm in the same situation as you. Its impossible to get a job anymore based on work ethic and skill, rather its how well you can tell the interviewer what they want to hear so they will give u the job. Its all about socializing rather than the actual work that needs to be done. I've had a few interviews but haven't gotten any farther than that. I'm also thinking about going back to school, at least I would be doing something productive with my time rather than constantly applying for jobs and getting the "we are pursuing other candidates" emails.
