Music and healing.

I find that even in the worst of moods, I can listen to music that I like. I was feeling suicidal (not wanting to kill myself, but wishing I never existed) then I started listening to some music and it completely turned me around. It's hard to explain, but sometimes when I hear particular songs, I go off certain places in my head...it evokes memories, or images or beautiful scenery in my head.

I find that with music, scents, and other things. My brain is more than a little compartmentalised. I could listen to one song and totally go to point A, then smell jasmine and go somewhere totally different with no residue of the last place. My ipod shuffle is a hassle in that respect. If I'm in one mood that I wish to keep, then I'll stick to one file; but if I let it roam through all the songs... well I end up on quite a merry trip.

I notice the same thing about myself. I can be having a very crappy day and if I play music that I enjoy, I can turn that day around into a good day. Music has that strange effect on me.

Music is my main escape from the harsh realities of life. Without it, I probably wouldn't be here anymore.

listening to XMAS music sets me right again. there needs to be an xmas channel on tv. nothing but XMAS 24/7.
