people who take one year certifications get a job pushing paper for 100K a year, when I apply myself to studying advanced calculus, statistics, intraday trading and accounting, reading philosophy, listening in on bloomberg and Canada's federal budget, I get the short end of the straw?

Why is it that people can keep their high paying jobs without re-training, or improving themselves? There's all these people taking up the jobs that people are dying to have and are striving for? Especially me. I have way more expertise and insight than alot of people with desk jobs, and they have the odacity to complain about their job! They don't take any pride in their appearance, or their work, and they rack up their debt while people like me have to apply themselves to university for FOUR MORE YEARS until I even touch my resume again...

and then people point out where all of my hard work and studying has got me. Pretty much nowhere because they all have cars, jobs and houses...

And I'm pretty sure once I get out of University, there won't be any jobs - or any desk jobs available and I'll be condemned to a life of manual labor or serving coffee.

I use to run a lemonade stand each summer when I was a kid. Then my whole life got turned around for fifteen or so odd years. My entrepreneurial spirit was never nurtured, and now I strive to be a leader in the business world and I'm being pushed back at every stop b/c of my spotty work history or lack of a degree/certification

I keep trying to reach for volunteer positions, and I can't even find any of those. I've applied for two, but one is for a run and another is for a folk music festival. Will these help me in the business world? NO. So I spend all the spare time I have studying, and volunteering where I can and this is all I have.

First you need to figure out what your interests are before you spend any more time and money on college. What sort of things do you like to do? That's the area you should concentrate on in taking courses, and in looking for work. Also, have you considered working for yourself at something? If you work for yourself you won't have to explain your spotty work history to a prospective employer.

As for some jobs paying more than others, that will always be true. You have choices, you could train and apply for the higher paying jobs, but if they are things you are not interested in, you still won't be happy. It's best to find work doing something you like, even if it doesn't pay that much. Just don't go hog wild on spending, and you can live a comfortable life.

You misunderstand. I've already applied to university and am takin the required courses... But time and our mismanaged governments and the fact that these ass heads float by on little education quite comfortably really gets my goat

My good man, if you want to be a leader in business, it isn't going to happen by working for someone else. You need to go into business for yourself, and to do that, a sharp mind and a focused will is going to be of way more help than a flashy resume. Don't expect the system to help you, in fact you will have probably find yourself fighting it most of the time. The road to power is never easy, but it makes obtaining it all the more glorious!
